MFT Previews Begin: Clearly Sentimental about You

If you didn't stop by Kim's blog yesterday for links of all the designers with previews, you won't want to miss it, there were so many cute samples of "I Want Candy!"

Today, the team is previewing two sets Clearly Sentimental about You and Joy Ride.

Clearly Sentimental about You was free triple scoop last month, for anyone that purchased three full sized sets.

This month, its available on its own- and if you don't already have it, I've got to say,I do think it is must have set for any stamper.

I do love coloring, but I also love just playing with paper and embellies, and these beautiful sets are just perfect for that.

They're also a great compliment to the stamps already in your collection for added versatility.

I paired one of the sentiments with Grow Love, Plant a Tree for a quick, cute and scrappy masculine card. This one will be hopping in my little guys lunchbox this week.

Both of these cards qualify for my own little blogaversary challenge that is running through Wednesday night. Sew Krafty. You can find all the details on this post.

You'll want to swing by the MFT blog today for two important things...

MFT's Monthly Favorite! That's right, one card out of the weekly favorites has been selected as the monthly favorite, and one stamper will receive a $20 gift certificate to MFT! Just in time for the new release!

You'll also find links on Kim's blog to all the designers with previews today. Her post will go live today at 11 am EST.

I'd rather be skiing

Oh man, I'd SO much rather be skiing today. We are getting so much rain, I feel like my house might float, or blow away (the wind is coming sideways right now...) Up north, where we just returned from vacation, they have four new feet of snow. Grrrr.

I have nothing fun to report about my Friday today. Appointment to get my brows done, and then off to the dentist. Yippee (NOT!)

My husband and I are probably the last people to go see Avatar, but we've finally been able to get a sitter for a matinee on Saturday (oh so lame that we're having our date at noontime, but its better than no date at all right?)

To top it off, I have an appointment with an Excel Spreadhseet to work on my 2009 taxes for my daycare business. Seriously, I lead the most exciting life.... right?

Yet, I know that you didn't come here to listen to me whine. Here's my sample for this week's Bellariffic Friday. The theme is Winter or Winter Sports... I'm a skiier not a boarder, but I do sport the ski-girl braids on the slopes, (although mine are tucked inside my helmet..)

Daisyboardabella has been colored with my Copic markers, then given some snow at her feet with chunky glass glitter, she's got some fuzzy boots, and pom poms with the help of Liquid Applique and you'll see that I qualify for my own challenge with Kraft and Sewing to boot! Be sure to enter my second week's Blogaversary Challenge found HERE!

Last of all, don't forget to swing by Blogabella to see all the samples from the Babes! Did you send in an entry to Em this week? I'm off to check them all out! Next week is a fun theme cooked up by my friend Karen - "Polka Dots, Big or Small, We love them ALL!" Isn't that FUN?

...just a little blogaversary... Week Two Challenge

Hi everyone and welcome to my second week of my blogaversary celebration! I've just LOVED seeing all your paper pieced beauties, and I can't believe that there were 49 entries! I'm thrilled! I poured over all of your amazing samples, and without further ado....I have my top three favorite projects to share with you.

a) Jackie Pedro
b) Melisa Hunter
c) Lisa Henke

I've begun filling this jar with your entries (and by the looks of it, I'm going to need a bigger container! Woo Hoo!!), remember you can earn multiple chances at the grand prize by doing any, or all, of the following:
  • Enter a challenge - earn one chance
  • Use MFT, Stamping Bella or TCP in your entry - earn an extra chance
  • Be selected as one of my top three for any challenge- earn an extra chance
  • Enter all three challenges - earn an extra chance
This week's challenge is Sew Krafty!

I challenge you to incorporate sewing into your project, it could be machine stitching, hand stitching, embroidery floss, faux stitching, etc. And, you've also got to incorporate some Krafty elements into your project. If you read here a lot, you **know** how I feel about sewing, and kraft paper.

Now, creative note here....if you don't have Kraft paper in your home (gasp!!) I bet you could mimic the effect with some re-purposed pieces of cereal box... Remember that your project must contain both elements to be eligible!

I'm adding a Mr Linky to the bottom of this post, and it will be open until next Wednesday, March 3 at 9pm EST to add your project. I'll announce my top three projects as well as the third challenge on Thursday, March 4th. Please add a direct link to your project via your blog or online gallery. By that, I mean to be sure to link to the actual project, not to the main page of your blog.

You'll have just under a week to complete each one. You may combine this with other challenges, however, this is open to NEW work only, please do not link up older creations from your blog or gallery. Thank you!!!

Project Details:

My sample for the challenge uses The Cat's Pajama's Hearts and Flowers, and Coolvetica stamp sets. This is a 4 1/4 square card, made of, you guessed it, kraft cardstock. I've also included what I call a "stitched scraplet" made from kraft paper, and I've used all kraft matting on my project. To give each piece of Kraft additional dimension, I've inked all the edges with tea dye ink.

Patterned Papers are "Report Card" from October Afternoon and really just bring such a smile to my face. (They make me feel springy, even though it is snowing here in Boston...) Finished with a bit of stitched Aqua Mist ribbon and a aqua mist jute threaded button from Paper Trey Ink.

TCP Tuesday:

I'm also using this as my TCP Tuesday sample for the week (...albeit a few days late...) Susie's our hostess this week, and she's challenging us to use any springy stamp from The Cat's Pajamas. This makes my heart happy! Be sure to add your TCP Spring themed creation to the guestbook on Alma's blog. You'll find all the details on this week's challenge on Susie's blog.
In case you hadn't seen the prize package, which will be awarded randomly... here's what's up for grabs!

My Poor, Sick, Little, Sweet Sketchy Bugg

I was so excited when I saw the Sweet Sunday Sketch from Karen Giron this past weekend, because I knew it would be *just perfect* for one of my new Huggabugg stamps that arrived recently from Stamping Bella.

Meet the sweet Fluey Bugg. awwwww. I've paper pieced her little outfit and the water bottle on top of her head, the wings are colored with Copic marker then glittered up.

What a fun way to be able to use so many patterns, with just a snippet of each.

I've (reluctantly) dragged myself away from the Valentine Buggs that I've been on a binge with... but I've come to the conclusion, that I simply need more Huggabuggs. They're so cute, I love the size of them, I simply can't work with them without just being happy!! Oh sweet Christy... I wonder what you've got up your sleeve next?!? I'm on a serious bugg fix.

Tomorrow I'll be posting my top three picks for my first Blogaversary Challenge, you've got till 9pm tonight to load up your entries to this post. I've got my next challenge lined up, sample made, photographed and blog post written. So, I'll see you tomorrow! Here's a hint, this card has both of the required elements for the next challenge! Hmmmm.

And, just a little reminder about Stamping Bella's Bellariffic Friday Challenge this week. Be inspired by all the fun of the Olympics and make either a winter or winter sports themed card! Send your entries to Emily by Thursday at 5pm EST!

Sweet Thanks

Here's another card from the pack I sent off to my Aunt before our ski vacation. I purchased this adorable set from Taylored Expressions as soon as it came out, and shame on me. I hadn't used it yet.

I know. So wrong. Especially for this adorably sweet little cupcake. So cute. Right?

You know I'm not alone here. You have stamps that have sat, patiently and waited. Right? (Please tell me yes...)

Go ahead. Get one inky. You'll be so glad you did.
Project Details:
Sweet Occasions stamp set, Taylored Expressions. AbbeyRoad from My Minds Eye designer paper. Aqua Mist Stitched Ribbon Paper Trey Ink

Quick Note: Don't forget that today is TCP Tuesday, and my amazingly talented friend Susie is our hostess this week. I've got my sample wrapped up, but I'm saving it for my next Blogaversary Challenge on Thursday!!

So Grateful!

Hello everyone!! I'm pleased to say that I survived our ski vacation and it was fantastic! The boys did GREAT, and guess what, I wasn't even the worst skiier on the mountain this time!

I was so excited when I remembered that I snapped a few photos of a set of cards I made for my aunt before I headed out skiing last week.

I am pretty sure I'll be sharing another card from the set within the next few days this week as I work on my sample for this week's blogaversary challenge, get my previews for the upcoming release for MFT, and get my life back in order after a weeks vacation!

I simply must say, that truly I am so grateful for all of you that stop by to leave a little love each day!

This card uses the Signature Greetings and Damask Designs from Paper Trey Ink. I Stamped, crumpled and stitched the damask panel and then used what I call the "drunk stitch" on the polka dotted panel.

Now, don't forget, that the first of my Three Blogaversary Challenges is open until Wednesday night. Get paper piecing!

And, this week's challenge for Stamping Bella is to get inspired by the Olympics and create either a winter, or winter sports themed card for Friday! Entries are due to Emily by Thursday at five pm! Find all the details HERE

just a little reminder - Blogaversary Week One Challenge

Today we are packing up and driving back from an amazing ski trip to Vermont. With a zillion loads of laundry to do, and NO food in the house, it might be a day or two before I'm able to get crafty. Oh right, and back to school and back to work....sigh...

Just a reminder that my first challenge for my Blogaversary Celebration has been posted. Entries are due by Wednesday night and I'll announce my top three favorites, as well as the next challenge this coming Thursday. I sure do hope you'll play along!!

All the details are HERE

A Springy Bittybloom

This week's Bellariffic Challenge was a color challenge, from my sweet and oh, so madly talented friend Jodi! It was fun to reach for these springy and bright colors. I can't wait to see what the girls did today!

I reached for my little Poppy Bittybloom, and a piece of watercolor paper and got to work. The patterned paper has orange in it, but I decided to go for a big POP of orange by gathering my wide width orange grosgrain. I secured it all in place with a length of button twine threaded through a little olive button.

Head on over to Blogabella today to see samples from all the Babes, all of you in blogland. Be sure to leave a comment on Em's post for a chance at winning Bella Bucks!

Next week's challenge is inspired by the Olympics (my seven year old is obsessed, I can't drag him away from the TV!) and to create a winter, or winter sports themed card.

As I'm a ski bunny on the slopes with the boys this week, I bet you can guess what sort of card I'll have for you next Friday!

Have a wonderful weekend!! Keep your fingers crossed that I can keep up with my two little ones on the slopes. Its sad that my seven year old is a *much* better skier than me. I should enjoy this one year that I have better form than my four year old, I bet he'll lap me by the end of the season....

MFT's VIP Kit: Who's that Birthday Girl

I've been eagerly awaiting the release of this sweet image from MFT, and those of you that love Who's That Girl (like meeeee!!!!) will surely want to add this to your collection.

If you didn't come here via Amy's blog, you'll want to start up at Kim's Blog so that you don't miss anything along the way!

Meet Who's that Birthday Girl!! Isn't she pretty? Don't you love her party dress? Really, is there a stamp set that you need more often than a birthday set? And you won't want to wait too long to pick her up because she's available today only as part of the MFT VIP Kit. And, there is only a limited quantity available. So.....if you miss out today, you won't be able to pick her up again until March 3rd. I'm just sayin'....

It should come as no surprise that I've paper pieced her today. You may have noticed that I love building her outfits with paper, its like a little jigsaw puzzle which pattern I want to go on which piece!

I also used the custom candles that you can add to personalize your card. I stamped the cake a second time, and added it to the inside of my card, and added the numbers "36" to the inside cake! How FUN is that??

For you smarties that pick her up today, you'll likely already be stamping with her by release time! Sweet deal eh?? Here's all the goodness included in the VIP Kit! You'll find the MFT VIP Kit here, and here's a quick peek at what is included!

  • FREE Invitation Only MINI set

TCP Tuesday: Color Challenge Time!

Hi everyone!!! I'm so excited to be your hostess this week for TCP Tuesday! Last week, I was on a pink and red binge with all those valentines - so this week's challenge has nothing flirty or feminine, but I hope you'll agree, its still FUN!

I recently picked up You Say Its Your Birthday from The Cat's Pajamas. I so seriously love these mischievous little penguins!

I stamped this happy little guy with Brilliance Ink, and then set him aside to dry. I stamped him a second time so that I could trim out the balloon for a little "out of the box" treatment.

Using an oval nestie, I diecut the image, then sponged all around the frame while it was still nested inside the die. Lastly, I trimmed out the extra balloon and adhered it right in place.

Is it me, or is that sentiment just perfect? I love it!

I hope you'll freshen up your desktop and play along in this week's TCP Tuesday Challenge. For those of you feeling a little rusty on the rules, or for anyone who hasn't played along here goes:

Here are the deets for TCP Tuesday.
1. Each a week one of The Cat’s Pajamas DT members will host a challenge.
2. The challenges will vary {stamp, technique, color, theme, sketch, etc.}
3. You will have until the end of the month to complete the challenge.
4. Post your design to the guestbook on Alma's blog. Only designs posted to the sketchbook are eligible for Swanky Stamper.
5. TCP stamps are not required, but of course, highly encouraged. {Unless it is a challenge calling for a specific stamp}
6. There will be one winner each month. They will be deemed that month’s Swankiest Stamper and get $25 in Cat’s Cash {money to spend on the TCP site!}.
7. Only designs posted to the guestbook will be considered for the Swanky Stamper.
8. The newly crowned Swanky Stamper will be announced on the First of the Month and have his/her winning entry posted on The Cat’s Pajamas website where he/she will reign for the entire month.

Clean and Simple Guy 'Tine

For me, this card is pretty clean and simple. Not a lot of patterned paper, just a flat strip of ribbon, but its understated for a reason. Its for my husband. Being a guy and all, he's not much for all manner of frilly things...

Even though its clean and simple style, I still did get to use lots of my favorite elements....nesties, glitzy glitter, a button and twine combo, my sewing machine and my distess inks.

The sentiments in the "Clearly Sentimental About You" set from MFT are beautifully stated, and beautifully scripted. This is the "Triple Scoop" set at MFT this month, which is free with your purchase of three sets valued $15.95 or more. You can see the set, and read all the details on this fantastic promotion HERE

I will say I am loving the flexibility to add these new Clearly Sentimental sets in combination with my existing stamps! For the inside of the card, I stamped a coordinating sentiment and using a tip I picked up from Susie, I accented with a little bit of piercing underneath the word forever....

Wishing you all a wonderful day today with all the people that YOU love best.

Bella's Love Me Do HOP!

Good morning and I hope you've been having fun hopping along this morning in the Stamping Bella Love Me Do HOP! If you didn't start up all the way at Emily's Blog you'll want to start over again.... because this is a huge tour through the Blog-o-Sphere to see all sorts of Bella Goodness.

I've so adored this little Bee Mine image from Stamping Bella, and I've already used it a few times in only a few short weeks.

I'll be sad to move on from Valentines... its been a cardmakers DREAM to work with all the sweet images made for this love filled holiday! However, I have some new patterned paper to cheer me up! This is Garden Variety from October Afternoon, and *squeal* do I ever LOVE it!

This little Bee loves organic veggies just like me.... *wink* I think I'll use this for a valentine for my produce lovin' husband!!

The next stop on the hop is my sweet friend and fellow Bella Babe Dana!

As if that wasn't fun enough....how about a prize? In addition to the fabulous eye candy, we have decided to hide a prize somewhere along the hop!

One pre-selected blogger will draw a random winner from the comments on her post, and the winner will receive a $25 Gift Voucher to Stamping Bella!!! The fun part is...we're not telling you who it is!

So as you hop, make sure you leave comments on every post so you have a chance to win!! We will announce the winner on Friday in the Stamping Bella Splitcoast forum.

Bellariffic Valentines with a Sweet Sketch

Happy Friday! (can you tell how much I love saying that?)

This morning I'm off and running, its my first Friday in weeks that I haven't been volunteering in someone's classroom, or taking anyone to the doctors.

I've got some Valentines Day preparations to take care of, and I'm really looking forward to getting things accomplished. I'm always amazed how much I can get done without the boys tagging along!

This is my sample for this weeks' Bellariffic Friday - the theme is Lovey Dovey Valentines, and I was thrilled to get to play along again with Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch! I added a scalloped border, and all my edges are inked heavily with my Tea Dye ink. And squeezed in a little grosgrain bow, and some adhesive pearls... I mean its Valentines, you need a little extra extra right?

Now, don't forget to hop along to Stamping Bella to see samples from the Babes, as well as all of you in the Blog-o-sphere! Be sure to comment on Em's post for an easy chance at some Bella Bucks!

Next week, Jodi picked a FUN color combination - turquoise, orange and pink! I've already even played along already and have my card ready to share next Friday (I'm getting things DONE I tell you!!)

Feb 11, 2010

Valentines goodness continues....

Is it just me, or is Valentines Day a cardmakers DREAM or what?

Now that all these goodies (Peppermint Patties, and Ghiradhelli Chocolate) are all tied up in bows, buttons and twine, I can't eat any more of them. That is a good thing!

This is the set of teacher and bus driver little gifts for tomorrow.

I'm getting a lot of mileage out of this stamp set "Tiny Treats: Valentine" from Paper Trey Ink. And, I think I've fallen completely, head over heels in love for the tiny polka dotted ribbon.

Feb 10, 2010

Tiny Treats for little friends....

Between both my boys, we had 68 valentines to write for their classes, and then of course, I have some valentine treats to make for the classroom teachers, and the bus driver as well. Yikes!

For those of you that are struggling with this same situation, I thought I'd share a few of the designs I'm working with this week. All of my projects today use Paper Trey Ink's Tiny Treats: Valentine

First, here is a little glassine bag with a sugar cookie that I sent my little guy off to school with yesterday....his class was having a baking activity and with his allergies, he couldn't eat the finished product, so I thought this might put a smile on his face. I was right, he loved it. I was sad, they threw away the tag at school! Sniff, sniff....

This next photo is a collage of a collection of 3x3 notes that we put together for the boys classes. Keeping the cards at a 3x3 saves cardstock, so that I didn't chew through my stash too much.

And **gasp** I know these little valentines are going to end up in a circular file come Saturday, so I didn't want to use ribbon or buttons. We substituted nestie hearts (which by the way, my son was able to run through his Cuttle Kids machine by himself!! Hooray for helpers!!)

The boys searched through the stamp set, and they adored the little puns for the sentiments, I loved that the images were quick to color (since I was making 48 of these!!) and the images all were punched out with a 1 1/4 punch. Lots of handwriting practice here at my house this week!

For the last 20, I decided I needed a little creative break from these sweeties, so I reached for my beloved Kraft cardstock, and found some fun red patterned paper and used the negative space of a nestie to create this fun design.

By keeping all the designs relatively clean with just a few of my signature details, we got the job done quickly and I still love the finished products. The boys are so excited, and its been a great project to work on together.

I've still got some teacher gifts to wrap up, but we're expecting a HUGE snowstorm this afternoon, so you know what I'll be doing right???

Thanks so much for stopping by today. To anyone else expecting snow, stay safe, and warm!!!

TCP Tuesday - its Beary Special!

Welcome to this week's installment of "TCP Tuesday" our hostess with the mostess is Amy, and this week's challenge is to paper piece! (Which of course, I was thrilled about, because I loooove to do that!) If, by some chance, you didn't stop here via Amy's beautiful sample, you'll want to skip up there a moment to have a gander.....

I'm guessing you'll be seeing lots of paper pieced bears today, as we're also celebrating the February 9th release of the newest The Cat's Pajamas set "A Beary Good Year!!"

This adorable set contains our dear friend, Bear, who you've seen before as part of "Happy Camper" and again in "Make Merry." Now available in a set all of his (or is it hers?) own... and you'll find accessories to add no matter what special day you might need to make a card for. I adore the variety of sentiments in the set, for my card today I inked up portions of two different sentiments to make.... "Beary Special." (I love the flexibility of stamps to put together just the sentiment you need!!)

In keeping with today's Paper Piecing challenge, I stamped the bear image to some Close to Cocoa cardstock, then again to this ledger paper, and I stamped the flower image to a small scrap of light pink paper.

I added distress ink to the bear, and to the ledger paper belly for added dimension. I love the little bit of richness it gives your pieces before adhering them in place. You can also sand, or crumple your pieced items for additional texture... go ahead, try it, you'll loooove it!

I added one of the adorable TCP Sweet Thing Buttons to the center of the flower, and threaded it with a little bit of twine.

Here's a secret, I'm a horrible masker, so I love paper piecing for elements like this. I stamped the bear in place, then stamped where I wanted the flower to be. While the little oval die was still in place, I covered the panel with my Copic airbrush.... what a quick and easy way to ground your image... and keep a nice fresh white border when the diecut is popped out of its frame! Then I added my paper pieced bear, and then added the flower petals right in place. And voila, no masking!

I'm lovin' that new ribbon that Alma has added to the store. Of late, I've been doing lots of ruffles with it, but today, I've used it just like another layer of paper. I stitched a panel of it to a piece of kraft cardstock, and then using sharp scissors, I trimmed the edges. Its just like adding a layer of paper. How fun is that?

The next stop on our hop tonight is Leigh, and I never cease to be amazed with her work - truly jaw dropping stuff. And let me say, now there is a girl that knows her way with some masking --- she's brilliant!! I'll race you over there to see what that genius has come up with this week!!

You'll also want to swing by Alma's blog to learn the name of our sweet friend Bear, and also, find out who the Grand Prize winner is - the recipient of ALL the stamps that TCP will put out this year. Did you enter a name into the contest? I'm so excited!!

Last, but certainly not least, don't forget to add your sample to the Guestbook on Alma's blog each week for your chance to be named the Swanky Stamper of the month!!
