May Teaser Time: Day Two

Welcome back to day TWO of Teasers for My Favorite Things!

Our next release will take place on Tuesday, May 3rd at 10pm EST. But I've got Teasers for you every single day between now and then. And, Kim at MFT is giving away Teaser Time Prizes! Be sure to leave a little love on each of the Design Team previews for your chance to win a gift voucher. (Who couldn't use a little extra spending money around release time!) You'll find a list of the participating designers every day on the MFT Blog!

I love the *mini* size of this stamp set MFT's new Notched Tag stamp set. Wait till you see the sweet little mini Die-namic elements! This teensy little onesie, is maybe the cutest thing ever....

I created a mini panel 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 for my cardfront, and wrapped it with some scrunchy seam binding. The Notched Tag is then hanging from a tiny little bakers twine bow.

I don't have a hundred million samples for you like yesterday,
but I do in fact have a second one.

The other day I mentioned that I've got a stash of cards to get completed for this week - it is Teacher Appreciation Week, and our class has been asked to make cards for the school nurse. She's super duper sweet, and is certainly a big resource for me since my kids both have food allergies. Its great to know that she's got an eye out for them both in school and when scheduling coverage for field trips!

I love that with the new Notched Tag stamp set and Die-namics die that I can create a custom little sentiment/tag for any project. MFT's Best Medicine of course came to mind for the project, and I added a teeny tag.

You are going to FLIP when you see the mini sized elements that come with the Die-namics die. For this project, I've used the teeeeny heart in MFT's Red Felt (....that stuff cuts like buttah....) Might I add that the Bakers Twine is just the perfect size to tuck the Notched Tag on......

Enabler alert: As I'm linking up this post, I notice that both the Fossil and Whip Cream cardstocks are back in stock.....I figure, as long as you're shopping.... right?.

Be sure to get your entries in for the MFT Guest Designer Contest - its a HUGE prize. And this month's challenge is particularly fun! While you're at it, don't forget to leave a little love on each of the design team posts during Teaser Time. Its your chance for a little extra spending money at the release. Who couldn't use a few extra buckaroos to pick up something sweet?!!

See you tomorrow with Pure Innocence Teasers!

May Teaser Time Begins: Well Worn Greetings

Before I get to the project - just a reminder that I'm running a HUGE Blog Candy Grab Bag offering (17 stamp sets in EACH of the two goodie bags I'm giving away) see the original post here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Teaser Time for My Favorite Things Stamps has begun! We'll be stamping the days away until our big release on Tuesday May 3rd at 10pm EST.
Here are the details about the upcoming release on May 3 at 10 PM EST:

  • The MFT release is on May 3 at 10 PM EST. You can attend the release party from 8-10 PM EST here in the forum for fun, games, and prizes! All the new sets and dies will be available on May 3 at 10 PM EST.

  • The guest designer contest is ON! Check out the forum for details on how YOU can win over $100 in stamp sets and play along with the DT for a month.

  • If you'd like to see all the teasers for today, please click on over to Kim's blog NOW! Be sure to leave comments as you go for a chance to win one of 2 $10 vouchers being given away daily, just for leaving a comment. :) Check Kim's blog every day for the winners.
I've got teasers lined up every day between now and the release - sweet huh? What can I say.....I've been busy. Are you ready to get started?

My first teaser is for Well Worn Greetings. I've paired the stamp set with the coordinating Die-namics die - the Well Worn Label. Check out the fabulous denim texture in this stamp set. I inked it with my Bordering Blue ink pad, and stamped to white paper, then ran the piece through my Cuttlebug with the middle sized label in this three piece Die-namic set.

I adore the font style in this stamp set and you will be amazed at how many sentiments are included in this fabulous set! I stamped in the oval frame, and inked the sentiment with a Dew Drop sized pad, so that I could use the tip to ink all the words, and then inked the little heart with red ink last.

Here's a close look at the Die-namics Well Worn Greetings Label.

This is my sample for this month's Guest Designer Challenge. Honestly girls, this is YOUR chance to win over $100 in product from our June release and join the Design Team in daily previews. You'll find all the details from the challenge hostesses in the MFT Forum on Splitcoast Stampers and you'll need to have your entry in by Monday at 10pm EST.

I have LOTS more samples to share with you today because I adore this stamp set and Die-namics Dies! Are you ready for another one?

Up next, I was still playing with the assignment "Blue Jeans and Bling" for the guest designer challenge.

Remember, you can interpret the challenge any number of ways. How about real jeans? I've cut the jean scrap with my Die-namics Well Worn Greetings Labels. The roughed up oval was stamped with black ink, and I very carefully inked up the sentiment using Rhubarb Stalk Memento ink for the "priceless" and just the tiny tip of my Tuxedo Black Memento ink for the "you're" Now, want a close look at the bling part?

See my Pretty Posie Die-namic? Want a fun tip? MFT is now selling this amazing microfine glitter. I used my Xyron to coat a piece of paper with adhesive, then I covered the panel with the microfine glitter. Then used my Pretty Posies Die-namic die to cut the flower. The amazing thing, this glitter is SO smooth such even coverage, that it is stampable. That's right, I stamped the gingham pattern from Well Worn Greetings right on top of the glitter. Its a pretty cool effect....

I've also added two small glitter stripes across the pattern paper. Simply place a line of Scor Tape across your pattern paper, then apply the microfine glitter, and bang, just a touch of shine. And trust me, the glitter holds in place. No errant glitter all over your project.

Want to do it again? I have MORE samples. Lots more today....

AND because I {heart} this Die-namics set, how about ANOTHER preview with a totally different look?

It certainly is amazing that this Die-set has a stamp set that it works perfectly with, but I also love that all the Die-namics can be mixy-matched for so much versatility in your "collection"

I've paired More Essential Sentiments, along with the flourish from Own Your Story and the fabulous new Die-namics Die Scalloped Ribbon and lots and lots of Distress Ink.

I started with stamping that flourish in an olive colored ink, I actually cut the sentiment apart into two pieces so that I could line up Happy Birthday on two lines. (don't be afraid to do that.... you can easily line them back up in a single line on the clear block!)

I criss-cross threaded the buttons and added them with a Jody Booster to my project. Then I just pulled the tails of the twine behind and secured to my card front with tape.

Do you spy this fabulous new Die-namic? Its the Scalloped Ribbon Die-namic. I used Ivory Cardstock for a natural ribbon feel, and then added a little twine bow on top.

Okay, shall we do it again?

I'm in the midst of getting cards ready for Teacher Appreciation Week next week... and I saw this paper at my LSS a few weeks ago and picked it up for JUST this purpose. I mixed it into the stamps from Well Worn Greetings. Yes, this is the same sentiment as in the first sample, I can't help it, I LOVE this one.

I pulled out my Cork from MFT, I don't use it often enough, so I went on a little binge with it the other night. You'll be seeing it in a bunch of projects !

For this sample, I reached for the scalloped frame. Fab-u-lous! The layout is nice and simple, but you get the point, you can use this stamp set for a TON of things.

Want to see another one?

I was feeling a little guilty about using the same sentiment twice, even though I really NEEDED it twice. So, I thought I'd crank up another sample for you. This little sentiment reads "No matter where you go, there I am." What a great message.

I've paired it with paper from Lily Bee "This and That" - and yes, here's a bit of cork again. My simply scallops layer is cut from this pretty black brocade paper with the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namic and then stitched in place.

See, I love anything that you can get extra duty out of! Hope you liked this Die-namics set done a whole bunch of ways today! And hopefully it gets you looking at mixing up your supplies and using them a new way too!

I'll see you tomorrow with another preview!

So appreciative.....

I'm LATE today but did you see that there's BIG huge news at MFT today. Four new designers are joining us on the Design Team. Please visit the MFT Blog for all the details. I'm tickled pink having these girls on the team, and they're jumping RIGHT in with Teasers for the new release starting tomorrow!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Full panic mode has set in here at the Basile Household. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week!?! WHAT? How, does this catch me off guard every single year? I honestly thought it was the week after next.

Luckily Jen's SFYTT came in handy for me. I've used nearly the whole layout, but skipped those three tiny elements in the bottom right hand corner. And added a GIGANTIC twill bow instead.

Patterned paper is from Girls Paperie. Oh, its so beautiful. Love. love. love. The edges really just do BEG for me to crumple and roll them. I've inked up Pure Innocence Book in Hand and added some little stickers to spell out "thanks." I'm a mom of boys, but come on, we know that I'm really much more appreciative of the teacher than the boys probably are.... she's the one that I entrust my two highly allergic boys to each day.....

But since I can't manage to color on each of the NINE cards I need to make (insert eye roll here) I also have made some non-coloring cards for the boys to send in....

Framed Greetings
to the rescue. If you met me at CHA Summer in Chicago last year, quite likely I sold you this set. I call it my Marriage Saver Set. For those occasions in which you need a card in five minutes, but it still needs to be cute. I picked up this cute patterned paper from Studio Calico at my LSS because I knew the need for teacher cards was coming up. Love these big colorful apples. A bit of scalloped detail with my Simply Scallops Medium.

I'm back to the drawing board, because I have a LOT more to make, and you know me, I don't really like making the same card more than once. I mean what's the fun in that? And as you know, I just *happen* to have a ridiculous amount of paper and stamps around here. Better get stamping!

Berry Thankful

It's Wednesday, so that means that not only have I nearly survived the week... but that its also time for the Wednesday Stamp Club challenge at MFT. I'm crazy preparing for First Communion this weekend, cleaning house, ordering food, baking a gazillion cupcakes etc. So this week's sketch was a welcome break......
I've gotta say, spring sure is taking its SWEET time to arrive here in New England. It feels like it will never be time for fresh picked strawberries from the farm... tons and tons of them. But that isn't going to stop me from thinking about it.

This is MFT's Who's that Harvest Girl and she's me. She's lovingly schlepping her farm fresh food from the farm each week, coming home to cook up something tasty for the family. (In the beginning of the season, I'm very excited about this... by the end of the season, I'll be grumpy, and trying to figure out to do with another week's worth of squash.)

This week's MFT Wednesday Stamp Club sketch is a fun one, I was a little worried about the tiny main panel shown on the sketch, but this image was just perfecto!

Patterned paper on this sweet little baby is Pink Paislee Hometown Summer that I found at my LSS as both 12x12 and a little mini pad too. This is the mini size. Super, super cute. I've already stamped up a project for our new release with this paper, and I just looooove it.

I sure do hope you're playing along with the Wednesday Stamp Club challenge each week, but if not, you'd really, really better enter something this week. After all, our next release is May 3rd, and a little prize winning money would certainly be great to have for some extra goodies. Right?

Be sure to enter your project to the Splitcoast Galleries using the keyword MFTWSC17 and join us in the MFT Forum on Splitcoast to chat!

Soft and Shabby for a friend....

Before I get to the project - just a reminder that I'm running a HUGE Blog Candy Grab Bag offering (17 stamp sets in EACH of the two goodie bags I'm giving away) see the original post here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This week I had to make one of those cards that is just hard. A sympathy card. Something quiet. Not loud. Something sweet, but not cutesy. You know the card right? I leafed through my (enormous) collection of stamps, and selected Inspired by Spring. I'm loving with the new lines at My Favorite Things that I have a stamp for so many different "styles" of stamping...

I stamped the image to watercolor paper with Brilliance ink. and heat set it. I can't underscore the importance of heat setting that ink if you're going to watercolor with it. No matter how long you have tucked it aside... it isn't dry yet....trust me. So, do yourself a favor, grab the gun and use it. You'll be glad you listened on that one.

I used SU reinkers to color with - Pink Pirouette for the blossoms, and Soft Sky for the background. I die-cut the panel with square nesties, and cut a mat one size larger and then stitched all around. My Distress inks and my new blending tool are my new best friends. Generous inking all around the panel.

The card base is the new Girls Paperie - Vintage Whimsy. When I saw this linen colored one I wasn't sure. Yikes! What would I use these quiet colors for? But now, man am I glad I picked them up because they were just the neutral that I needed. I added a bit of color with the light blue paper (also from Vintage Whimsy), and squeezed in a bit of text paper (Girls Paperie: Kitsch)with the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namic with lots of stitching and distress inking too.

**just a quick tip: if you're using text paper, be sure to take a look at the words you'll be adding to your project. - sometimes, the words are um... not exactly appropriate for the project at hand - however you can get around that with some clever die placement. this paper actually had the word death - yikes - not what I wanted on the front of my sympathy card - I just moved my Die-namic to a different portion of the paper and it was all good **

Finishing touches include a seam binding bow, and a tiny bit of glitter to each of the centers of the flowers.

You might see that I'm still stuck on that shabby chic style that we used for the MFT Guest Designer contest last month. That bottom panel is stitched, ripped, rolled and inked. If you read here with regularity - you'll know that I get stuck on "a thing" for a bit, and I'll warn you, the new thing seems to be stitch it, rip it, roll it ink it. And, I'm liking stitching right on beyond the borders of a panel, stitching straight into the next pattern of paper.

So, I hope this soft and shabby card brought a smile to my friend's face even for must a minute....Thanks for stopping by today.

MFT Rolled Rose Die-namic Video Tutorial

There's one thing I *don't* stock up on in my crafty stash.... and that's pre-fab flowers. I'm always worried I won't have the right color, what paper will it match with, will it be too big? Too small? So, instead, I just don't buy them....

The great news, MFT's Die-namics make it easy to create custom embellishments to match whatever paper you're using. And with the wide assortment of shapes that MFT is always creating... there are TONS of possibilities.

You've seen me use this Rolled Rose Die-namic before on a pillow and on a lampshade, but I know that so many of us are visual learners.... so when I put this little rose together I videotaped the process so you can see how easy it is to make a custom little bloom.

I've used felt for mine. I recommend a wool blend felt, versus the acrylic stuff. The acrylic is cheaper, but it leaves those icky stringy hairs when you cut. The wool felt cuts up like buttah! Conveniently MFT sells felt too. Nice right? I've cut mine with my Cuttlebug, but really these dies will work in any die-cutting machine. MFT has cutting stack information here. If you're not having good luck with your dies, try adding a shim to your stack (that's an extra scrap piece of cardstock) to increase the pressure between your die and your cutting material.

My little video tutorial on how to make these pretty blooms is embedded below, or you can find it on YouTube HERE. Drop me a note with any questions, I'm always happy to help!

Tutorial for Splitcoast Stampers: Paper Bag Mini-Book

I am SO honored and excited to be the Tutorial Author today for Splitcoast Stampers. After all, I've learned SO much from the tutorials and challenges on Splitcoast. For me, that's where stamping grew from an occasional night out with my playgroup friends to a true obsession.....

And, Beate is really just about the sweetest person you'd ever meet, so if she asks you to do anything... the answer is quite obviously "Of COURSE!"

That being said, I'm not a scrapbooker. So I was a *little* afraid (okay, honestly more than a little afraid....) when she asked if I'd write a tutorial on creating a paper bag mini book. But Of COURSE! As it turns, out, I'm SO glad she asked me to do this, because it was a fabulous project.

Ordinarily, I don't buy a lot of alterables, because really, they're expensive, and what if I mess up? ...scary.... so this was just my kind of project. It is made from brown paper lunch bags. You know the kind that cost you like a dollar for a hundred of them....

I grabbed lots of my new favorite paper, all my favorite Die-namics Dies and some of my favorite embellies, and got to work.... The cover uses the Framed Greetings Stamp set the Sweet Stack Die-namics and the 1/4 Rosette Die-namics

The neat thing about making these books is that the bag bottoms, and bag tops turn into little pockets. You'll learn all about how to do that in my video tutorial (below) But how about a look at how the pages came out?

I made the book for my friend Kim. You all know her as "The MFT Lady." This first page has a little journaling pocket where she can tuck in a note. Maybe it will be a funny story from one of our shows. Or maybe I'll write a funny note about how she orders like Sally (you know....from when Harry Met Sally) when we go out to eat. *giggle*

Stamps here are from Own Your Story from MFT. I've used the Little Open Scallop Strip and the Die-namics Hearts a Plenty.

Here's a page I made with a photo of us from CHA last summer in Chicago. I've used the Own Your Story stamp set again on this left hand pocket, along with the Four Point Frame Die-namic. I've added a bit of Simply Scallops Die-namic trim inside the pocket too. The pocket is holding a small tag that I've covered in canvas and stamped on too. The right hand page has a trio of the Pretty Posies Die-namics. (See they're clustered together on the canvas tag topper too....) I spelled out my sentiment using the fabulous Typewriter Alphabet. That striped scalloped piece is the Small Scallop Strip Die-namic.

Here's another fun little pocket that you get when making a paper bag book. The bag openings are a great place to tuck mementos, notes, ticket stubs etc. I slid in a little journaling card created with the ledger stamp from Own Your Story, along with the Open Scallop Doily.

And another spread with photos of friends of ours from "stampland" that's Kim with Carolyn King and a sentiment from the Polka Dot Greetings stamp set and Die-namics die. On the right hand side, is a photo of Kim with Lori Craig and Alma a.k.a Miss Meowy from The Cat's Pajamas. I used the Typewriter Alphabet to add the caption "stampers ink" where they all met up for a class and make and take last spring!

Here's another of those fun pockets, filled with a canvas covered tag and a sentiment from Own Your Story and a dimensional butterfly that I created with the Die-namics Butterflies die. The last page is blank saved for one of our good friends (that's you Jody). You can bet I'll be snagging one of her and Kim together at CHA this summer!

All the tips and tricks for how to make the base of the book from the paper bags, and how to create the little bottom flap pockets are on the video tutorial below. The step by step tutorial will be available on the HERE on Splitcoast Stampers.

Enjoy and please drop me a note if you have *any* questions! The video shows up *tiny* here, but you can also watch it on YouTube HERE.

A magical day.....

Well HELLO my friends! Today I've got a little cutie to share with you for this week's Wednesday Stamp Club. Perfect timing as I had a little birthday card to make for one of my daycare cuties. If you haven't joined in yet, well what are you waiting for? A new sketch is issued each Wednesday, and you've got till the following Tuesday to place your entry. There is a $15 voucher to the MFT Boutique given at random to a participant each week, make that $20 if your project uses MFT Stamps!

I picked up this My Mind's Eye Good Day Sunshine paper a few weeks ago, but hadn't dug in yet. I squealed with delight when I opened it and really got a closer look. Pink. Pink, Green and Aqua plaid. Scooters. YES PLEASE!

This layout has a perfect mix of little bits and pieces.... which got me a nice little mix of patterned papers. I reached for my bin of Pure Innocence stamps and Butterfly Kisses was calling my name.....

Here's a little tip, if you want to mix a LOT of paper on one card, you've got to keep an eye on the proportions, the "loudness" of the papers and not get too crazy. Or else your poor eyes don't know where to look.

I knew I wanted to lead with this pretty plaid. So I used the plain-ish pink for the largest panel. It has just a bit of texture, but not so much that it fights with anything else on the card. I also alternated between plain and zig-zag stitching on the project. Again, it adds just a bit of detail without being a distraction.

The green pattern was quiet enough to not fight with the plaid, so it took the next most prominent spot. The polka dots were a little busy, but in such a small segment, it's okay. I repeated that green for the sentiment panel, it was quiet enough that I could overstamp with a sentiment and not affect the readability of the typeface.

I hope you'll ink up this sketch and play along with us. Its a great way to play with the stamps in your collection, put your paper stash to good work, and get to know your fellow MFT Fans. We're always chatting over in the MFT Forum. Be sure to check the MFT Blog today for a full list of designers playing along today!

Thanks SO much for stopping by today!

I used my seam binding again. (love) This time it was spritzed with my Glimmer Mist, scrunched and then crinkle dried. I love the soft messy little bow. To go with that shabby ribbon treatment I "scrunched" the ends of the two small panels (the sentiment and the polka dotted one. Both elements were zig-zag stiched in place, and then I scrunched and rolled the ends.

Its time to be an MFT VIP!

Okay ladies, let the games begin! Tonight we're showing off our next VIP Kit - which is your chance to get your hands on the latest Who's that Girl - two weeks before she's available to the general public as part of our May Release. The VIP Kit is a one day only, limited availability product, and they've been known to sell out before. All I can say is, don't say I didn't warn you.... you can grab yours HERE... in the MFT Boutique!

If you just tripped across our little HOP you'll want to be sure to stop up at the MFT Blog so you don't miss a single stop along the way.

Because, really, just *look* how springy and beautiful she is... and the collection of products in this month's kit is stunning! This Picket Fence pattern paper from Lily Bee is amazing! These 6x6 patterned papers are scaled down for us card-makers. Sweet.

Do you spy the newest Die-namics Die which is bundled in the kit? Its called the Scalloped Ribbon.... this little die won't be available until the May release.... just sayin'

The MFT VIP Package includes:
  • Girls Rule Who's that Girl? stamp set
  • Girls Rule MINI stamp set (VIP exclusive stamp set - will never be offered for sale or be available again $9 value, FREE)
  • Scalloped Ribbon Die-namics die
  • Lilly Bee Picket Fence 6 x 6 Paper Pack
  • Studio Calico Wood Veneer Shapes in either Butterflies, Buttons OR Hearts
This paper is so gorgeous, that of course, I had to use it to make a stunning dress for Who's That Girl. I'm usually a purple-phobe, but I adore this pattern paper. And I love the combination of this green and purple together. Totally springy - no?

Little accents were added with the Simply Scallops Medium Die-namic and a felted flower courtesy of the Die-namics Pretty Posies .

No lie, I really love this set, and already I'm looking forward to inking it up again. Of course, in typical fashion, there are many sweet sentiments included, giving you tons of flexibility making it a really useful set.

Okay I've kept you long enough! Its now time for you to jaunt on over to visit with Julie Dinn to see what she's pulled together for you this evening! Have a BLAST on the hop tonight, and honestly, if you think you're interested in this kit, I'd recommend picking it up sooner rather than later... because I have a feeling it will be a big hit!

a la modes Teaser Time: Grad Girl

We're on day two of teasers for our mid-April release. If you've been following us with these for a while, you'll know that it means two new a la modes, and one new VIP Kit! The VIP Kit will be unveiled this evening as part of our VIP Hop at 10pm EST.

I had a lot of fun working with the newest a la modes: Grad Girl. She's sophisticated and elegant... don't you agree? I've paired her with this fun Fancy Pants patterned paper.

I've added a bit of scalloped trim with the help of my Simply Scallops Medium Die-namic. I love the depth of this die, tall enough to alter the base of the scallops.... I've added zig-zag stitching and all the edges were inked with a tea dye ink.

The sentiment was added to the Layered Labels Die-namic. I'm loving that as my Die-namic collection is growing that I have tons of new options for sentiments.

Be sure to visit the MFT Blog today for a full list of all the designers participating in previews today! I'll see you tonight for our monthly VIP Shop Hop!
