I keep several in my car at all times so I can use them WHEREVER I shop. I smile everytime I see someone bring theirs in. I noticed Costco has theirs too (much bigger & sturdier) that I will get on my next trip (but for now the grocery ones worked just fine) cute story with your son's friendDonna Bakerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14107630697373636771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-47312910505067395352008-06-23T08:05:00.000-04:002008-06-23T08:05:00.000-04:00Jo--love the new blog. Can't say how many times I still get quizzical looks from store employees (tjmaxx and target) when I ask for no bag or bring my own. It'll just take a while to catch on, I guess. This week was my first week composting. I decreased the trash by half! Even my skeptical DH was surprised. ;-)audraaudra khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18176602396247491009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-9346173529275660452008-06-22T22:53:00.000-04:002008-06-22T22:53:00.000-04:00Here's another tip. Then you bag them up at the car. If you have to do this just once, I bet you'll remember the next time. It's a little extreme, but you won't forget again.
I've had a few occasions recently where people have seen me going in or out of the grocery store with my bags and that reminded them to go back and get theirs.Lisa_in_ARhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06229627318787648606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-45403410455689935432008-06-22T19:46:00.000-04:002008-06-22T19:46:00.000-04:00Wheeeeeee! Hopefully I'll start remembering to use them more often :) Looking forward to your next green post!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02460158740617781677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-58359679236617251572008-06-22T17:54:00.000-04:002008-06-22T17:54:00.000-04:00I love the name for your sunday feature and I'm to...I love the name for your sunday feature and I'm totally excited that you're doing this!! I have always believed that every little thing makes a difference and it's often hard to get others to see that. We can't change the world all at once but if everyone does just a little, all those little things add up!!! All my little things have snowballed into LOTS of things and I normally drive my husband insane about all the things that I recycle or reuse (like bringing all the stuff from work to recycle) but over our 12 year relationship, he as followed me down this "save the earth" road. I have gone from "I can't change the world, but I can change the world in me" to "if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem!!" So, you can see, I've become quite obsessed and opinionated about being green!!! :) Keep up the good work!! I love checking your blog everyday!!Amandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01980531213554918100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-57044313708123247832008-06-22T14:55:00.000-04:002008-06-22T14:55:00.000-04:00Good for you, going green, if they started chargin...Good for you, going green, if they started charging money for grocery bags in the US, everybody would have re-usable bags wihtin a week. I use collapsable crates, you can put a lot of groceries in them and in Holland you get charged too when you want a store bag. When we lived in Tucson I always asked for paper bags and I re-used those for lots of thing.
Keep up the good work and if you want advice, ask me, we are pretty green over here.Evelinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08049125853042667677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-1777833512483048942008-06-22T13:16:00.000-04:002008-06-22T13:16:00.000-04:00I love this feature about your blog! Takes only 3 to hold all of our groceries. They cost $5 each to originally purchase but are well worth it to save the environment - plus to discourage plastic bags, they charge $0.11 for every one you need to bag your groceries.
We use them when we go elsewhere as well, or just say no bag. It amazes me that people get a bag just for small things like a CD that you can easily carry in your hand or purse!Allisonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08534827927935722857noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-54514769606809807302008-06-22T11:23:00.000-04:002008-06-22T11:23:00.000-04:00Thanks for this post! There, they also charge you for each bag you use at the store. Back home in the States, we now get a discout for each bag we reuse at the grocery, and they are so much easier to pack!! I have not had to purchase any bags - I use what I get at work conferences and places like that :)MelissaShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08830791841334744251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-52210084020264319122008-06-22T11:16:00.000-04:002008-06-22T11:16:00.000-04:00I love that you are sharing your green tips! At least with plastic bags (if I forget my own) I reuse them for garbage bags .. but with the paper bags from the mall - those are just useless for anything else!Pegg Shttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02475578108543678568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-649938086526623641.post-73107354059510662912008-06-22T11:14:00.000-04:002008-06-22T11:14:00.000-04:00I totally agree with you about the bags, I try to ...I totally agree with you about the bags, I try to use them as much as I can. They are sturdier and easier to carry, and so inexpensive! I keep mine in the front seat and still forget them sometimes but I am getting better at remembering. I did the same exact thing you did... left my bags in the car and had to run out and get them... multiple times! :) And I, too, have started using them at Target! I dunno why I didn't think of that sooner, huh? :) Target even sells their own reusable bags, although by now I have so many other ones I don't need them!Danihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02301151292896296500noreply@blogger.com
