MFT June Release is Here!

The New Release from My Favorite Things
 is now available HERE!

I have a huge post for you as part of tonight's New Product Tour.  I'm working with the new Pure Innocence: Hula Girl.  I used my Square STAX Die-namics to create an Instagram (a.k.a Polaroid) frame for a little scene building.  I used the negative space created by cutting out a Square STAX and then trimmed a rectangular shape from the remnant, and voila, Instagram frame!

The next step was to go ahead and build my photo scene.  Let's take a close look at how I did that......

I pulled out my Catch a Wave Die-namics and cut it three times.  I created a little sand dune by cutting a hill freehand, and then placed that just below the waves.  Little Miss Hula Girl has a paper pieced little tankini.

Since my main panel is so large, the Fishtail Flags STAX was a great way to add something extra to my layout.   I cut three of them from assorted patterned paper scraps and then stitched them into place.

I added the coordinating papers to the inside of the card for a fully finished inside.  I cut two of the Square STAX and stamped the image in a lighter ink for a watermark feel.  I've tucked "Wish You" to the top portion of one of the Traditional Tags STAX and "Were Here" to the bottom of the little square.

But wait... there's more...let's turn this card into a gift set!!  There are loads of ways to pair this fun theme to a vacation kit!   I've had a lot of fun with all this pink and green. If you know me well, you know its a favorite of mine....

If you're going on vacation, there's a few things you need.  A colorful beach towel and of course loads of sunscreen.  I love making gift sets like this, but gosh, they're hard to photograph in my regular little lightbox.  Here's a quick look at the items, and then I'll break them down for you in a minute.....   Once the gift tag is taken off the towel, it will make a perfect little bookmark for your summer beach reading.

I am using the Let's Toast Die-namics to create a little hang tag  for a bottle of sunscreen.  My poor kids, I'm the crazy sunscreen lady.  I'm so worried about their sweet skin and ensuring they don't get crisped!   I used the tiny circular tag included in the die-set to stamp "Aloha" and then tucked that behind the square panel.  I found the words "remember the" from Behind the Camera Die-namics and Stamp Set and then cut the "spf" with the By the Letters Die-namics

And I tied up a brand new beach towel with some pretty pink ribbon and added a coordinating gift tag with the Traditional Tags STAX.  I grabbed the sentiment "Go Coconuts" from the Hula Girl stamp set, and then added the double ended fish-tail flag to the First Place Award Ribbon Die-namics.

I stamped "vacation" with the Typewriter Alphabet.  You can see the Notched Border Die-namics stitched in green right across the center....

Last, but certainly not least, I created an altered frame for my nieces to commemorate their family trip to Hawaii this spring.  This will match the girls room perfectly!  The ivory insert is where a 4x6 sized photo will go.

I used the Traditional Tags STAX to note the location and date of the trip. It will peek out behind the photograph.  This was stamped with the Typewriter Alphabet (a real go-to favorite for me...)

And I reached for my Die-namics By the Letters for the caption "aloha"  It's added to the Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics.   I made sure to put adhesive only on the lower edge of this flag so that a photo can slip in place.

But here's the part of the frame I super love... these gorgeous Hibiscus Die-namics flowers. Do you see the embossed detail on the leaves?  I cut the petals twice and stacked them for loads of dimension.  You'll see that they're glued to the outside of the frame rather than tucked behind the glass.  This way you can appreciate all their dimension (though they'll not be protected from dust or ahem, little hands that will want to decimate them....)

Phew! That was a ginormous post, but I hope you had fun!  Be sure to head on over to the MFT Blog for links to all the participating designers tonight!
