Mixed Media - Time to Be Creative

Today I have a project to share with you that was messy and fun to create.  I have had a blank art journal set aside on my desk, I wanted a little place to tuck in sketches to work with, color combinations that are go to favorites, and jot down some of my favorite watercoloring combos too.

My Favorite Things has added these gorgeous stencils to the collection and they are so fun to play with.  Today I'm using the Houndstooth Stencil which I laid over a sheet of Pink Lemonade card stock.  The stencil was held in place with some tape, and then I scraped over a layer of  Fiber Paste from my local big box craft store. When you lift the stencil you get this pretty textured design.  I set that aside to dry while I built my tag.  (I don't recommend trying to dry it with your heat tool the paste gets bubbly and I don't love the effect.  Good old patience on this one was required.)

I dieccut the Traditional Tags STAX from Steel Grey and the Pierced Traditional Tags STAX from Kraft.  The tag was then given a nice coating of distress ink all around the eges, then overstamped with the Art Impression Text stamp with Whip Cream ink. 

I used the Mona Pendleton Timeless stamps and Die-namics - they're so gorgeous and elegant. I love this pairing.  Check out that really cool gear die included in the clocks, love this embellishment.

I added a Rolled Scallop Flower cut from Sweet Tooth Felt, and created a Hybrid Heirloom Rose from Pink Lemonade card stock. A little triad of Fishtail Flags were added with Olive, Whip Cream and Factory Green cardstocks - oh my do I love that color combination!

The Sheet Music Background was stamped with Steel Blue ink to Primitive Cream cardstock. 

I've been on a real kick lately curling, rolling and bending the heck out of my edges.  I love the worn look it gives to things.  Good thing my gel manicures are super durable because I've been really giving them a workout. 

If you can believe it, I'll be back again tomorrow with another card to share. That's three days in a row, and not on release week!  I'm using stencils in my project again tomorrow, but in a very clean - no mess way!  See you again tomorrow!
