Winter Mini Swaps

If you're in the "Triple A" Holiday Mini Swap hosted by Tracy and you don't want a sneek peek then look away!

My holiday mini preorder arrived the other day (I was a good doobie and bought only one set! I shocked even myself!) and if you haven't heard, all the stamps in the mini catalogues are now die cut! All you have to do is peel and stick them to the blocks. Really, how GREAT is that. It made it so easy to get started. Wow, thanks Stampin Up!

So, I'm participating in a swap with my local demo group that where I will recieve a card sample of every stamp in the mini catalogue! I can't wait. I'm such a nerd, I think I was the very first person to sign up for Tracy's swap.

Initially, I was going to use Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate for the card, but I really wanted to use the large stamp with all the sentiments on it, and I needed markers to do it. So, along those same lines, I picked Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Rose Red and Bashful Blue for my palette. Coloring in all the words doesn't make this fun for mass production, but I think its so cute!

I finally ordered some shimmery white, and I used it to pop up the snowflake image inside the word "JOY." Faux stitching all around the rose red mat with what one of my clients once refered to as "the pokey stick" which still cracks me up. I also pierced all along the swirly background on the Cert Celery layer. Again, not fun for mass production, but I love the effect.

The new technique that I've been seeing is to add a little dot with the crop- o-dile. Instead of bradding each corner of the old olive layer, I simply lined up my Crop O Dile in each corner and created a little bump with the "a" tab.

The only thing I'd change would be to use the new Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon, but I'm sworn off any new orders for a while. I've got to play with the LOADS of new stuff I have in stock.

By the way, you have to pop over to Beate's blog to see what she's done with this set. Her work blows my mind. I can't wait to find some time to make a spinner card like this.
