Let's Grab Drinks

Oh hooray! I can't really believe it, but it is already time for the next round of previews for the upcoming release from My Favorite Things.  Today we're jumping in with a new and really FUN Who's That Girl titled Let's Grab Drinks.

I used this wood panel paper for the background, this reminds me of the wood paneled walls from a recent pub visit with my college pals.  And, in honor of my friend Kim, today's WTG is featuring an Apple-tini her very favorite. Oops, I guess it's been "five o'clock" a lot lately?

This image is easy as pie to paper piece, I am using one of the new My Mind's Eye 6x6 sized pads, which are just a fabulous scale for card making.  My layout is a slightly modified version of Karen G's recent Sweet Sunday Sketch.

You will love the huge variety of sentiments included in this stamp set.
Check it out....

I love using large flag shapes like this in my card making, but I can never seem to cut these perfectly no matter how I measure it out.  I'm really, really excited to be able to add wide banners to my projects with ease now thanks to this fun new Die-namics.  Fishtail Flags STAX Die-namics is a six piece stacking Die-namics. Whether I need skinny banner elements, or wide banners like the one above, I've now got exactly what I need for perfectly cut ends. YEAH!

Be sure to check the MFT Blog for a full list of designers with samples for you today!
Mark your calendars because teasers will continue until the new release on
Tuesday, April 6th at 10pm EST.....

Who's That Girl is here! May's VIP Shop HOP!

Are you ready to be a VIP?!

Its already the middle of the month, which means its time to share our latest Who's That Girl stamp set with you. She'll officially be added to the store in early June, but you have a limited time to pick this cutie up as part of this month's VIP Kit!

This month's kit includes the following:
  • Enjoy the Ride Who's that Girl? stamp set
  • Enjoy the Ride MINI stamp set (VIP exclusive stamp set - will never be offered for sale or be available again $9 value, FREE)
  • Simply Scallops LARGE Die-namics die
  •  Lilly Bee Happily Lost 6 x 6 Paper Pack
If you didn't start up at the MFT Blog then be sure to swing back up to the front of this little blog hop so that you don't miss a bit.  I'm just a few stops from the end, so if you've jumped in here, you've missed a whole BUNCH of great samples.

The last two years, we've had a LOT of fun on family bike rides with the boys! Mind you, I'm not a "sporty" girl, but I do love going out for a little tour with the boys.  Its a great way to get a little fresh air, a bit of exercise, but most of all, I love anything we can do all together.  That's going to be even more important as those little boys get older.... finding an activity that we all enjoy......

The pattern papers that I've used today are October Afternoon 5 and Dime - I've done a little sentiment tab thingy again.....  see I told you, it's becoming a *thing* for me.

I'm getting down to the last of my twill wide width ribbon. GASP. I'm going to have to find more.  I don't think I'm done with it yet.  I love the lush bow it ties.  I love that the ivory matches everything.  Must. Find. More. Twill.

While you're shopping, be sure to add those two a la modes I Need Some Face Time and I Treasure Our Frienship - and if you like this VIP Kit, then be sure to hop to it.  At *most* it is available for 24 hours, but there's always the possibility it will sell out, and be gone even sooner than that! So, as soon as you reach the end of this blog hop, be sure to go grab yours!

The next stop on tonight's hop is Julie Dinn - I hope you'll race on over to see what she's put together for you tonight with this fabulous new set!  Thanks SO much for stopping by tonight!

MFT VIP HOP!

Wanna be a VIP? Well its the time to pick up next month's Who's That Girl along with a fabulous assortment of products! This month....just in time for all your New Year's Resolutions --- Let's Get Physical (hey... girls, get your minds out of the gutter.) This month's VIP Collection for My Favorite Things is available now HERE

I'm hoping that you've come here via way of sweet Jessie's blog! But if that's not the case, be sure to start over up at Kim's Blog because otherwise you've already missed half of the amazing projects on tonight's HOP!

Now, its been said here before, that I only run when chased... but just wait till you see the sentiment I paired with it, because it really is SO so me! I also have many friends that are runners, either as a regular hobby, or girls that participate in 5K charity runs etc. So I know that this set will see a lot of ink from me, regardless of how I *personally* feel about running!

I've paired the newest Who's That Girl with the exclusive mini set "Get a Move On" which will ONLY be available as part of the VIP Kit! I love the sentiments in this extension set. And seriously girls, take a close look at the Die-namics die included in this VIP Kit. Three layered dies. Totally fabulous!

Today I've reached for the Stacking Stars Die-namic which is quickly becoming a go-to accessory for me. I love using up small scraps of patterned paper that are otherwise cluttering up my desktop. (please tell me that you have those piles too - right?)

And yes, another stacked circle "anchor point" - that's what I'm calling that little feature I've been relying on so heavily lately....I love nesting things in that circle and using it as part of my sentiment placement.....

Remember, the VIP Collection is available in limited quantities, and only through Wednesday night! And, the two new a la modes are also available in the store now! Happy SHOPPING!

Your next stop on tonight's SHOP HOP is Julie Dinn I'm going to race you on over there to see what she's put together for the shop hop!!

Who's That Girl: From the Bottom of my Heart

Today is the LAST day of teasers for My Favorite Things, because the new release is TONIGHT! Sweet!

You've already had a quick look at this set From the Bottom of my Heart a few weeks ago when we shared it as part of our VIP Kit in November. But now, it will be available this evening as an individual stamp set. As I often do, I've paper pieced her but this time, I popped up her hands and the heart just a bit for added dimension. When you do this, it is important to color the base layer (in this case the base layer hands, and the base layer heart) or else you will have visible white space on your project.

As you might have noticed the last few days, I'm having lots of fun with this little circle element, sometimes a star, sometimes a heart, today a button trio. I'm finding it is a nice anchor point for a sentiment flag. Its a new thing, hope I haven't tired you of it already!

Mixy matchy on the papers again today, I've got some light blue heart from last year's Pink Paislee valentine collection, some October Afternoon Scrap and I have no idea where this fun houndstooth is, I have it in a mixed drawer of "basics" that I dig into - text prints, polka dots, fun graphic patterns like this houndstooth. When a paper like that gets mostly used up, the bits go into my "basics" box and show up in little bits and pieces on a card like this. In my opinion, those little bits are too good to discard just because they're small.....

You'll see a Polka Dot Greetings Die-namic tab sticking off the top, I used this treatment a few weeks ago, and rather liked it. :-) Another crystal swirl was calling my name for the blue heart panel, but heaven help me if I could find the second package of bling anywhere on my desk....

I finished off the inside of this as well with a Die-namics Hearts a Plenty felt heart, and one of the longer sentiments that I couldn't squeeze onto the cardfront. Besides, it was a good way to use up the scraps, and to complete my project both inside and out.

Thanks SO much for all your sweet comments all week. I do hope that you'll stop by the party and pick up a little something for Santa to tuck into your Christmas stocking. I sure do love Santa but he never seems to get the memo about stamps... so I often leave some goodies for him to include along with the things that he chooses for me like ski socks, or a garlic mincer.... men.

Join us beginning at 8pm EST ----> HERE <---- on the Splitcoast Member Company Forum and then we'll see you for tonight's SHOP HOP kicking off at 10pm as the new goodies arrive in the store!

My Favorite Things: VIP Hop

Is it me, or is this month going by in a blink? I don't *quite* know how it is possible, but it is time for our My Favorite Things VIP HOP!

If you've done this with us before then you know the details, but just in case, the VIP Kit is a limited offering, available one day only. It is your chance to get your hands on the latest Who's That Girl, and an exciting assortment of products two weeks in advance of the official release date.

If you're just joining the fun, you'll want to start over again at Kim's Blog or else you will have missed many stops along the way. If you've popped over after drooling over Jessie's project then you are in just the right place!

The VIP Kit is available here for $42.90 (retail value is $55.85 so you're actually saving $12.95) and includes the following:

  • From the Bottom of My Heart WTG
  • From the Bottom of My Heart Additions (VIP exclusive full-sized stamp set - will never be offered for sale or be available again)
  • Hearts a Plenty Die-namics die
  • Curio Basic Grey 6 X 6 Patterned Paper Pad
Now that I've reviewed all the details, are you ready for my project? I was so lucky to get my hands on one of the new Cosmo Cricket Circa 1939 pads at my LSS this past weekend. The colors are just perfect for me, black, red, yellow and pale blue. And of course, just right for Valentines projects too. I paired it with Jen's Sketch for You to Try from this week, and added lots of stitching to my Hearts a Plenty Die-namics.

If you've taken one of my classes, or read here a while, you'll know that I'm very particular about my paper piecing. This stamp is a dream for piecing though. I simply stamped her dress onto patterned paper, and then stamped a second set of arms and a heart to pop on top so that the layers are correct. Its a pretty easy cut, no crazy small pieces, just one cut all the way around! Easy peasy! The heart was given a double dose of Clear Glaze Pen for extra shine.

That's it for me tonight, your next stop on tonight's HOP is the sweet, and oh so very talented Julie! Happy hopping, then happy SHOPPING!

Looking on the bright side.....

Today, lots of girls on the MFT Design Team have samples of the new a la Modes to share with you. I'm a *bit* behind the eight ball... so instead, today I'm sharing a card with you that I'd submitted for publication... but it didn't get picked up. ....insert sad face here....

That being said, I'm going to look on the bright side. I like this card.... so the good news though, is that I get to share it on my blog NOW. Yeah!

I really, really love Who's That Girl: Teachers Pet and I thought it would be so fun to use it with my new Bo Bunny papers - aren't these flaschard papers perfect? I brightened it up with some paper piecing using My Mind's Eye Animal Crackers too.

And for fun, it is finished both inside and out with scraps of the same papers. These MFT stamp sets have so many fun sentiments it really is a shame to NOT finish the inside! (And besides the fact with a black cardbase, it is a necessity right?!?)

As it turns out, I had a wonderful parent teacher conference with my son's kindergarten teacher today, so I think I'll sign the card, and send it into class!

Who's a Teacher's Pet?

Hope you're having a blast hopping along through all of the Design Team creations for this month's My Favorite Things VIP Kit: Teacher's Pet. You should have come here by way of Jessie - she is a sweet as she is talented! If you're just joining in, then please be sure to start over at Kim's blog because you've already missed more than half of it! *giggle*

Knowing that this stamp set was coming up, I picked up this school themed paper pack from Crate Paper, but lucky YOU, if you purchase this month's VIP kit, it is included! Its fabulous paper, with alpha and number themed papers, and one with school buses. Fab-u-lous!

I've been volunteering quite a bit in the school this year, I'm on photocopy duty for the second grade teacher every Wednesday morning. So, you see, this woman with the stack of papers, might be me. Oh wait, I'm usually dislodging paper jams.....

I of course paired it with some of my favorites... Hot Fudge and Fossil cardstocks, Chocolate Gingham ribbon and lots of stitching!

While I was at it, I finished off the inside with a coordinating piece of patterned paper and this sweet "Thank You" which is one of the sentiments included in the set.

Now that I'm a Substitute Teacher, I have NO idea how these amazing teachers do such an outstanding job day in and day out. Its hard work!! When I leave after a day of subbing, I want to go home for a nap.

Your next stop on tonight's Hop is JULIE! I'm sure she's got something completely spectacular to share with us this evening, so hang on, I'll follow you there!

MFT's Greatest Hits - Who's That Girl

This week, we are celebrating Who's That Girl's Greatest Hits. Enabler Alert!!! As part of the event, we are offering a SALE! From October 12 through October 14, use the code WTG to save 15% on all in-stock Who's That Girl stamp sets. (the newest WTG, Winter in the City is excluded from this promotion) If there are one or two Who's That Girls that you haven't picked up yet then go ahead and pick them up!

I'll admit that I have so many favorites within this collection but my new "Harvesting WTG" clearly hasn't seen enough ink. So, while its still nice, fall sweater weather, I thought I'd give her another whirl.

Plus, it is always fun to mix up my existing stamps with some new paper. I'd picked up this Restoration from Crate Paper, but hadn't had a chance to put it to work yet. I thought this woodgrain paper was just perfect for a little apple picking - I used it for one of my panels, as well as for a little paper piecing for the apple basket.

You'll recognize this sketch from Jen's SFYTT this week. Its a great one, though, really, isn't it always!?!

Since I was love-loving this paper, I went ahead and finished off the inside too - this is a perfect set for doing that since there are a ba-zillion sentiments. And, since I was using a Hot Fudge cardbase, I needed to finish off the inside anyhow....

Now, be sure to head on over to the MFT Blog, and follow the links for a tour of some of the team's favorite Who's That Girl stamp sets from the past.

MFT VIP Kit!

Can you believe that it is already time for the MFT VIP Kit? Oh my goodness, let the Christmas Cards begin! I've already picked up a few fun new holiday papers, and I couldn't wait to ink up my newest Who's That Girl!

If you've come through the hop, you should have popped on over here from Jessie, but if you've just stumbled into the hop, then be sure to stop back at Kim's place because you won't want to miss a thing!

Check out this month's Winter in the City Kit, loaded with the newest Who's That Girl, as well as a FUN new Die-namic, glitter, an exclusive mini set, and holy crow look at that gorgeous satin pleated ribbon!

So, how about a little eye candy with this fun new stamp set, and of course the Die-namic! I live just outside of Boston, and people, it gets COLD here. I just seriously hope my friend WTG doesn't break her leg in those gorgeous boots on an icy, snowy sidewalk.... right? I paper pieced her jacket and added some liquid applique trim for some added warmth! The snow piles and a bit of the sidwalk have been given a snowy effect with a mixture of Diamond Glaze as some chunky glass glitter.

This fun set has a cute little puppy that you can stamp into the scene, but shhhh.... don't tell anyone, I'm not really a dog person. So, I wanted to share that this could easily be a "non-dog-walking" girl, just out for a leisurely jaunt - out shopping, or headed in to get a nice and warm something at Starbucks!

I'd mentioned the other day that I'd used Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch twice, and here's my second submission. Of course, I had to add in my new favorite sentiment treatment, a half circle tucked under my main panel. Oh, so handy, don't you think?

For anyone that was reading my blog last year, you may recall that I'm a wee-bit obsessed with glitter snowflakes. Well gues what folks, MFT's newest Die-namic is a snowflake assortment. AAGH! I've cut one with kraft paper, one with white felt and the last one I gave a glitter treatment. Be prepared to see LOTS of these from me. I'm still in love....

This Die-namic is part of the MFT VIP Bundle available for 24 hours only... then it will be off the shelves until the official release in early October. There are a limited quanity of kits available, so run people, run!

Your next stop on the HOP is Julie! She lives in Canada where brr, brr brr, it gets even colder! I know that she'll be prepared with something completely wonderful for you! Happy Hopping and Shopping too!

Who's that Girl is Berry Sweet!

Today's previews include this month's Who's That Girl - this month it is "Who's that Harvest Girl." I love flexible sets like this that give you so many options...all you have to do is stamp in the produce of your choice, tomatoes, peaches, strawberries or apples and choose from any number of the cute, and coordinating sentiments.

Of course, I had to go with the Berry pun...
But, I LOVE this summery color combination of yellow, green and pink. So happy looking right?

The yellow polka dotted piece is an MFT Die-namics Open Scallop which I then zipped right through my sewing machine.

This month's Triple Scoop set is a harvest themed Clearly Sentimental, which gives you even more sentiment flexibility. Remember that to get the Triple Scoop, just purchase three full sized sets, and then add in the promotional set for free! Sweet!

Don't forget that tonight, all of the new stamps and accessories will be available for sale. You'll also NOT want to miss the MFT New Release Cocktail party come join us on the MFT Member Company Forum. Prizes, giveaways and lots of fun chatter with all our friends! Its also when we all find out who is joining us next month as the Guest Designer! Following the party at 10pm EST, we'll kick off our MFT Shop Hop and all the designers will have one last project to share. See you then!

I can not *wait* till tomato picking day at the farm. I'll have to load up on basil and fresh mozzarella while I try to consume my body weight in farm fresh tomatoes for at least a week.

I added in a button from the Earth Girl collection - just love those wooden ones, as well as a bit of the Crochet Ribbon (sorry currently out of stock) I also used the new Die-namics Framed Greetings Die along with the coordinating stamp for a little border element. I just love little multi-purpose elements like that!

Here's the full list of all the goodness available in this month's VIP Kit, priced at $35

Who’s That Harvest Girl? VIP

MFT VIP Hop

Hope you're having fun on this month's VIP hop for MFT. If you didn't start up at Kim's Blog then get on over there.... tonight we are introducing the VIP Kit and we're also introducing three new designers to the MFT team... so you surely will NOT want to miss a stop!!

This month, Who's that Girl is a gardening fool. Love her gardening boots, love her raised planters! You can stamp in a variety of gardens to her planters, depending on what YOU would like to add to your project. I'll admit, I only *wish* I had a green thumb, really mine is pitch black. But, I'm all about going to pick farm fresh goodness at the farm! Maybe this is me, harvesting basil... mmm. Fresh basil, can't wait!

As you can see, I'm still on my denim scrap kick... hope you don't mind humoring me with that a little longer. *giggle* If you didn't pick up the gorgeous twill ribbon that Kim added at the last release, you won't want to miss it. I'll admit to being a wee bit obsessed.

Don't forget that this is a one day only product! You have the opportunity to purchase the WTG set THREE WEEKS early, other than that, it will be unavailable until its full release in early July! This month's kit includes:

  • Who's That Gardening Girl?
  • Ruffled Ribbon Garden Collection (2 yards each of 3/4" ruffled ribbon in Tomato, Celery, & Sunshine)
  • Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety (that cute peapod paper I used is from Garden Variety)
  • Garden Button Collection

A Good Green Girl - MFT's Shop Hop

Yeah, it is my favorite time of the month! I love love love the monthly Shop Hop for MFT.

If you didn't hop on over from Kim's place, you'll want to back up one stop and go see what she's got prepared for you tonight!

Last summer, we signed up for a CSA (Community Shared Agriculture) and went to the local family farm once a week to pick up farm fresh goodies.

Along the way, I decided that I really *liked* cooking - which trust me, came as a total surprise. I discovered some really new delicious treats - Swiss Chard? Beet Greens? Who knew, so very tasty!

And even more wonderfully, my children decided that they really *liked* the things that we cooked together. Which, for me, was truly the best part.

I'm so ready for this summer's share to begin, and I'm looking forward to afternoons of collecting our produce, letting the kids visit at the farm, and enjoy a tasty fresh squeezed lemonade in the sun. Oh My Goodness!!!

So, you can tell, why I am SO beyond excited about this month's Who's That Girl right?? I mean it when I say that this girl is SO me. Everyone meet WTG Goes Green!

I reached for all different boldly colored patterned papers from October Afternoon. For me, it reminds me of the variety of color and flavor you find at the market. And, even better, this stamp set includes not one, but TWO different WTG images, as well as a variety of sentiments too!

I've also added in the gorgeous new Twill that is now available in the store - trust me you need this!!

Now, hold onto your seats because I'm about to send you over to visit my sweet, and oh so madly talented friend Jody. I've already seen her samples for the month, and let me just say, you're in for a treat!!

Introducing: Who's That Geek Guy and Clearly Sentimental about Summer Vacation

I hope that you're as excited as we are about this month's new release from MFT. I had so much fun working with this month's new Who's that Guy set titled "Who's that Geek Guy." As I'm sure you can see, I paper pieced this whole little scene. Using all scraps of paper, I pieced the chair, shirt, laptop and desktop.

I had fun rummaging through my paper bins to find all assorted scraps that would work for the project. I've got a bit of My Minds Eye (the orange circle) a bit of Cosmo Cricket (the grid pattern and the ledger paper) and my new Basic Grey Basics (the chair) - my favorite element on this card, the remnant jean scrap. Shredded and stitched into place.

This fun set comes with a number of sayings that you can stamp onto the t-shirt for a fun graphic tee look. But since my husband frequently works from home I thought it would be fun to use this for a father's day card, and reached for the "Clearly Sentimental about Fathers."

I have a second sample to share with you today, because I always like to share a sample of the Triple Scoop stamp set of the month. If you ask me, this is such a wonderful promotion, for every three full sized stamp sets ($15.95 or more) you will earn the Triple Scoop set of the month for free. The set is otherwise unavailable for sale until the following month's release....

Beginning tonight at 10pm this month's set is "Clearly Sentimental about Summer Vacation". I was really excited to trip across a piece of this patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket in my stash, the campers, the green woodgrain.

I embraced the campiness with a bit of denim scrap, and gingham ribbon (of course... they're right now a go to for me) and lots of distress inking for aging.

Remember all the new release goodness is tonight! The newest Guest Designer will be announced, lots of give-aways and of course the shop will open at 10pm! (earlier if you are a Tub Lovin Club Member!!) Don't miss our 10m PM Shop Hop with a new project from ALL our designers!! Meet us on the MFT Forum so you don't miss all the fun (and ahem...prizes!!!)

Come stamp with me! MFT coming to Ink About it!! (And a Die-namics preview!!)

Here's another preview of the fun new tool coming to MFT next week Die-namics! You can see that I'm a wee bit obsessed with this scalloped one, and cork too! I love the wide scale of these scallops, and that you can fit nearly three of them across a standard cardfront. I just diecut a piece of cork, and then trim off the edges with scissors. Easy peasy!

I'm so excited to announce that one of my local stamp stores will now be carrying My Favorite Things Stamps!

And to celebrate, I'm going to be teaching a workshop at Ink About It in Westford, MA on June 12th beginning at 2:30. This is one of the samples for the class, we'll work a bit with Copics, do some paper piecing and all the samples use this gorgeous Girls Paperie paper. YUM!

If you're local and can make it, I'd LOVE to see you there!

I'm tickled pink that I'll be able to use the soon to be released MFT Die-namics in my class! I'll precut this cork element for everyone, and I'll also give a quick demonstration of how the Die-namics work to add fun elements to your projects....

You can sign up for the class by contacting Ink About it at 978-392-0321! If you're local, I'd LOVE to meet you and I hope to see you there!

It's a Baby Bump Shop Hop

Hello everyone! I hope you've been having a great time hopping along on this month's VIP Shop Hop for MFT.

This month's Who's That Girl is "Baby Bump" and isn't she so cute?

If you didn't start this little jaunt up at Kim's Blog, be sure to take a moment, so that you don't miss any of the eye candy along the way tonight! However, if you've just popped by via Jessie's place, then you're right where you belong!

I love having a fun WTG image for baby shower cards, or "Congratulations you're nearly there!!" type cards! I've based my card on an MFT Fossil Scalloped note card (which, conveniently are part of this month's VIP kit!)

I added MFT's Hot Fudge cardstock (a staple in my collection) as well as my new love, My Minds Eye Quite Conrary paper. I used a bit of the paper for the piecing on her cute swing top, as well as some fun decor bags. My friend WTG, is just filling up the nursery with necessities....you know, feathering her nest!

As always, the set comes with a wide variety of sentiments, and there's always one that will bring a smile to your face, I added "Shop till you 'drop'!" to the inside, along with a few pieces of coordinating scraps for a card finished inside and out.

Available for one day only, and in limited quantities, this Baby Bump stamp set is available as part of MFT's VIP Kit. The kit includes all of the following:

Baby Bump VIP Price: $32.50

Baby Bump stamp set
Baby Bump Ribbons
Baby Bump “Diaper Pins”
10 pack fossil (Kraft) scalloped note card set (A2) with envelopes
Baby Bump additions FREE

If you miss it as the VIP collection, it will not be available for sale until our next release on Wednesday, April 7th!

Your next stop on the Baby Bump Shop Hop is Julie!!

Get some "Lovin' from the Oven"

I am over the moon with excitement about the upcoming Who's That Girl stamp from My Favorite Things. She's called Lovin' From the Oven, and seriously I love it because it combines two things that I just love, cooking and stamping too!!

Tonight several of us on the MFT Design Team have samples of this fabulous new set for you. If you haven't hoped on following links from Kim's Blog you'll want to start over from the top so you don't miss any of the eye candy that's awaiting you!

Today only, you can purchase "Lovin from the Oven" which available as part of MFT's VIP Collection including:
  • Lovin’ from the Oven Stamp Set
  • Bakery Blend Buttons
  • Bakery Blend Ribbons
  • Sugar Glass Glitter
  • Sakura Clear Glaze Pen
  • Plus receive a FREE Clearly Sentimental about Food stamp set
The VIP Collection is a one day offering that allows you to get your hands on the upcoming Who's That Girl stamp set along with a fantastic bundle of products at a fantastic price! (Personally, I can't wait to get my hands on that ribbon bundle and buttons too!) After today, you won't be able to pick up this fabulous stamp set till its official release on February 3rd!

Now that I've shared the details on the bundle... who's ready to see my project?

Last year, I discovered that I really, really enjoy cooking. Who knew? Certainly not me. But, over the course of the last year, I've committed to looking at cooking as an enjoyable activity, rather than a "chore" to be done.

I'm often working from recipes that I've discovered online, which means having my laptop right next to the stove. And lets face it, I'm clumsy, so that's not really a great idea. I'm always worried that I'll spill something. So, I decided, to combine my new found love of cooking, with my longtime love of stamping, and swap out my current (not cute) recipe box with something I'll love using!

I popped right over to my LSS to pick up the Bare Elements Recipe Box. Its an oversized box, and its perfect! (It comes with dividers inside, which I'm working on, but with two sickies in the house, I didn't get as far as I'd hoped this week.)

The oustide of the box is covered with a few sheets of 12x12 paper from the Basic Grey Nook and Pantry collection as well as a sheet of Bo Bunny Double Dot paper. I've used MFT's Snow Cone and Hot Fudge cardstocks, and my beloved Kraft cardstock too.

The box has less layers and "stuff" than I usually add to a project, but as this is going to be countertop in my kitchen, I didn't want layers that would collect dust, or possibly fall off get ragged etc. As soon as my order from MFT arrives, I will however be adding a little button cluster from the Bakery Blend!

All the paper piecing was done with the Nook and Pantry 6x6 pad. I love piecing with these smaller sized patterns, just the right scale! I sponged each piece of her dress to give some added dimension then glued each layer in place. Once the little piece was finished, I gave it a nice coat of Multi Medium to protect it.

I used my Maya Road chipboard letters to spell out the word "recipes" for the front of the box. I hope you'll forgive me if it seems lazy, but I love the look of naked chipboard against the dark chocolate polka dot.

So, I gave them a nice protective coat of Multi Medium from Claudine Helmuth's line and then adhered them in place. This will protect them from grease stains and splatter from being kitchen top and all.

After I'd added the Multi Medium to the letters, I decided that coating the entire box was a good idea, to protect from dust, splatters and just life in general.

Once everyone is healthy, and I've unburried myself from the mountain of laundry, I'll get back to work on the insides of the recipe box, and show you a recipe card I've been working on. I'm so excited about this project, too bad LIFE got in the way of my stamping plans! LOL!
