Stamp Night!

Tonight is my monthly Stampin Up get together with my girls!  I've got two of the projects we'll be making for tonight's class and I'll share some more with you early next week.

My very favorite new set from the new catalogue has to be "For the Bride." I just love the elegant details in the set and I love it paired with the "Parisian Breeze" Designer Paper.  This paper is so luxe, so heavyweight and beautifully patterned.

We'll be stamping the wedding cake with white craft ink and quickly heat embossing it to bring texture and depth to that paisley cake.  I paired it with the elegant satin Baja Breeze ribbon from the Valet Ribbon collection from Stampin Up. I'm so glad that SU now offers the Sizzlets Lots of Tags dies.  As someone that uses nesties constantly for my sentiments on my non-su cards, I'm thrilled to have a similar treatment to offer in my classes!

Our next project is a little gift tag using the Sale A Bration set "Congratulations." I received some of the fun "Darling Dots" designer paper and the in my last order and thought this would be a fun way to use a paper blossom.  They're so big they don't fit well on a card, but on a tag, it makes a fun little adornment. The So Saffron ribbon is also part of the Sale A Bration rewards, its from the Ribbon Bundle.

Stamp Night!

Last night I had my girls over for our monthly Stamp Night! Its always so fun, with a pretty equal amount of chatting and stamping!!  I adore the "Sweet Always"designer paper, its pink, pink and orange for goodness sakes, it just doesn't get more adorable than that!  

I love using my Top Note Die and it makes for a quick, easy and cute little treat topper.  Can you see the almond milk chocolate in there.  Yipes, they came as part of an assortment, and clearly, I'm not eating them... that's the only reason I haven't dug into this little baby and eaten the candy! Giggle.  

I saw an adorable card from Jodi a few weeks ago, and I pretty much cased it to make my last project for the class. 

Instead of the Baroque background stamp, I used the pink polka dotted pattern from Sweet Always and added some of the wide width Pink Pirouette ribbon.  It was needing a little somethin' somethin' so I added some flower punchouts from "One of a Kind" 

finished off with some black brads. Oh how I love pink and black together! 

My stamp club is about 50% veterans, experienced stampers and 50% girls that are newly addicted to the craft.  This month, I finally got my act together and did a photograph of each finished card along with step by step instructions for each station.  I know my "regulars" won't need it and they'll speed through, but I'm thinking it will be a nice reference guide for them after the fact, and will help the newer girls to have a step by step explanation for how to make the cards.

Lovely Heart - High Contrast

I'm so happy that "A Lovely Heart" has made it into the Spring/Summer catalogue from Stampin Up. I bought it out of the mini catalogue, but I hadn't put it to much use yet, and wanted to use it in my upcoming January stamp club.  Hooray!!!  

I thought this fun geometrical pattern within the Riding Hood Prints designer paper would be a good match for the tic-tac-toe board from the set.  I went high contrast on this with black, kiwi and riding hood red.  I hand cut oval mats for the sentiment, and everything is popped up on dimensionals, in fact, lots of dimensionals for all those x's and o's.

I added a little tab with the Curly Label punch, my paper piercer and three brads.  

Not sure if you can see it here or not, but two hearts have been "glitt-rified" for a little extra zing, but I did skip the ribbon making it okay for my girls to give to their husbands for Valentines day.  

Stampin Up Only two days in a row.. I know - I'm on a roll!!!

Stinkin' Sweet

Its been a while since I've broken out my Pun Fun set from Stampin Up, but I'm gearing up for my January stamp club meeting and its all about Valentines!!

I thought it was high time to break out this sweet skunky!  Lots of contrast with the black, kiwi and riding hood red.  

If you can believe it I actually woke up with this combination of colors in my head for a project, and that was before I saw the latest catalogue and the adorable new line of paper with this combo.  What's the chances of that??  Since I can't get my hands on the new paper yet, I thought I'd mimic it with what I already own. 

Hope you're all getting excited!!!  I've got a few more projects to knock out for my upcoming class so you'll be seeing more Stampin Up Only projects the next few days.  Looking forward to a late night stamp night to move everything out of my mind and onto paper!

Ski Slope Preschool Sweets

I ordinarily wouldn't be posting twice on one day, but time is running out for me to share all my holiday projects!!  If you're feeling the pinch, both from a time perspective, and of course financially, you can quickly and easily whip up some treats for all those little gifts you need to give this time of year.

I feel badly that Stampin Up has been so neglected over here.  So, here's a little more SU love for you all!

Since I of course have LOTS of designer paper, I was able to put together these cute little tins and matching gift cards just using up some scraps I had from older cards, and a stamp from a set that I've used, but I just hadn't cut into this particular stamp yet.  This paper is my very new favorite, "Ski Slope."  

I used the hostess set "Punches Three" for the sentiment on the little tin.  I stamped it with Baja Breeze ink on the same color paper then punched it with my scalloped square punch.  Then stamped the same image with Baja to Whisper White cardstock, and hand trimmed out just that center portion.  With my hand punch I added a teeny hole to one corner, then threaded a little linen thread bow to hold the tag in place.  These will be filled with chocolate squares courtesy of my friend Audra!!

The card is actually a pop up gift card holder, which was a recent Splitcoast Technique Challenge.  I used "Big on Christmas" and my Stampin Up Markers.  Since my bucket o glitter was handy, I glittered up the words so that you didn't notice my Ruby Red marker isn't exactly a perfect match for the Riding Hood Red cardstock.  I stamped the tree separately and popped it up with a dimensional.  This will hold a Dunkin Donuts gift card because heaven knows, preschool teachers need caffeine!

I'm going in on the preschool gifts with some local friends, I'm making the items, another friend bought the chocolate, another friend is running the errand to pick up the gift card and we're all going to split the cost.

Teacher Treats - SU Style!

My kindergartener is headed off to school with these treats for his teachers.  We've had such a great start this year, and the teachers have been just SO accommodating with all my allergy concerns. 

We made these altered tins at my most recent SU workshop.  I'll be showing the little 8oz square tins in the next few days as I wrap up several for the preschool teachers! 

I picked up my tins at Right at Home Scrapboking, (By the way Lisa has lots more alterables in stock for your gift giving needs if you have gifts to be made!!) 

All the papers and stamps are from Stampin Up.  These do come together SO quickly, and with the double sided coordinating papers, you just can't go wrong!  I used the Ski Slope papers and the Dear Friends Hostess Set from Stampin Up.  

I added the scalloped tags with my new favorite thing, ribbons adorned with buttons and cording or linen thread.  

My Christmas cards are now all in the mail! Hooray, so I'll be able to share the full card by the end of the week.  Hope that you're having fun ticking things off your list at this busy time, and most of all, enjoying all your favorite people and traditions! 

Thanks for Thanksgiving

I'm behind the eight ball getting ready for my Stampin Up workshop next week. Eeeks.  

I wanted to give the girls an opportunity to put together some favors for Thanksgiving or little hostess gifts for whoever is cooking that day.  

The Big Shot Pillow Box die for sure makes favors a breeze.  Wouldn't these look so sweet tucked on your plate with a little chocolate tucked inside?

Someone asked me last week, so I'll just let you know, these are just a teeny bit too small to fit a gift card.... 

The other project I have lined up is a mini pizza box that would be a fun little hostess gift filled with either your favorite chocolate treat, a gift card, a matching set of notecards......I just discovered a little set of tealights will fit nicely in there too.  What other fun little things would YOU tuck in a little 4x4x1 box?  

I kept the projects for the night quick, because I'm hoping to help everyone with Christmas card designs, or just let them work on their project if they already have materials on hand.  I haven't even started designing mine yet. (bad, bad girl!) 

That's my assignment for myself for the weekend. Among many other things... I've got a pretty lengthy "to do list" over the next week or so.

I've got one mass production project in the works, then I'll be working on my Christmas cards.  I think I ticked some of you off last year when I showed my Christmas card mass production system, lots of anxious folks for the finished product.  However, if I show the card fully online then there isn't much surprise for those of you that are on my card list and are blog readers too.

So, here's a question.. if I do mass produce, who wants teasers?  I'm debating about doing 10 or so of 10 different designs as I get antsy with the repetition lately.... what'cha think of that idea? 

Pillow Time

Don't you love anything you can make from scraps? I do because I've got loads of them.

This cute little pillow box, which is made with the help of one of the Big Shot dies that I picked up, came together in no joke, two minutes! Love that! Since I can cut four to five sheets of cardstock at a time with this baby mass production of these would be a snap!

I tucked a few little Dove candies in this one, (and gross, ate a ton of them sneakily this weekend... that's the one bad thing about making candy favors, is I eat the extras!)

Wouldn't they be quick and easy for a bowl full of favors for a dinner party, or a little something at each place setting.  All made from scraps from my card workshop the other night.

Running in two million directions today, lots to do lots to do, but wanted to share a little something with you.

I'm pondering what I'll do for a little Blog Candy later this week to celebrate my birthday the end of the week... stay tuned if you like free stuff!

Two More Riding Hood Creations

I realized I never shared the final two cards for tonight's stamp club meeting.  I'm so excited for the girls to get here.  I'm busy this afternoon turning the playroom into stamp town.  Lucky for me I have small sized people who love to help with this job!

We always have a good laugh, and I love that my friends from all the different parts of my life (college, playgroup, fellow pre-k parents, neighbors and even Blog-readers!!!) all seem to hit if off so well! What can I say, I've got good taste in friends! Giggle!!

So, here are the last two cards we'll be making tonight.  One uses the "Punches Three" set and the wide oval punch along with some Bella Rose Designer paper (love that stuff!!)  

The other is a revision from a card you've seen me make here before.  I just went without all the quilting I'd done on my original sample for a cleaner and lets face it, just less time consuming creation!  Admittedly, we do as much (ahem, if not more....) talking than stamping, so I thought I'd make it easy!  

I was a total slacker and I didn't get my SU order placed early enough.  I'm going to be cutting right up to the last minute my kraft paper and dimensionals are arriving sometime today!! Eeks.  I've never done that before, and I apparently got stuck in a longer picking line than I'd noticed. Shame on me!!!

So, since clearly I {heart} Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette, what's YOUR new favorite in color?

Running with Riding Hood Red

I have a few samples today using all Stampin Up product, and you might just notice a theme. All the cards are made with Riding Hood Red.  Its for an upcoming Stamp Class at my home (waves Hi girls!!)  

Hoping to show the girls various color options as they begin to think about their holiday cards.  And even if you don't plan to make all your holiday cards, its always nice to have a few already on hand. 

These are less layer intensive than my usual cards, going with a recent theme... quick can still be cute. 

This first one pairs my new favorite shade of Red with Baja Blue, Kraft and Ivory. Can you believe my total lack of designer paper??  I know, I was impressed myself.  Giggle.  Hard to see here, but the top layer of Baja Blue is stamped with the snowflake image repeatedly with versamark for a soft touch.  

I rarely do a "catalogue case" but I just adored the sample in the catalogue for "Big on Christmas" so I used it as a starting point.  I switched the size of the card, but kept many of the same elements.  I love how the bow here almost looks like a tie for Mr. Snow eh?

This card uses Bashful Blue, Whisper White and lots of dazzling diamonds on the lettering.  Many of my girls have the Many Marvelous Markers so this is a great card for them to put them to good use! 

My next card is a little redesign for club of something you've seen here before.  I pulled out my new favorite, Bella's Blossoms, and my Top Note die finally arrived! (Um, thanks Angie for pushing me over the edge, I love it!)  

We'll be making our own designer paper with background stamps, and demo'ing the Top Note die.  Its amazing. And yes, you need it.  If you don't already have a Stampin Up demonstrator, I'd be happy to set you up!  Now with online ordering, you can click click and have it shipped right to you.  Of course, I can always place an order for you if you'd prefer!  Just email me. ;-)

This month, my friend Karen (Em, do I have permission to call her my friend, if I give you the credit for introducing us?) is bringing her friend Dana (yes, girl, I'm calling you out you lurker... ;-) By the way, Em, can she be my friend too?  

Two more to design for class, neither of which are holiday cards.... One is a redesign of something you've seen before... just needs a little streamlining for workshop purposes, and one using the fun new "Punches Three" hostess set.  I'll be back with those two next week!

I'm really looking forward to my workshop tonight. What a fun bunch of girls coming over.  The stamping is fun, but the real fun part for me are the funny stories, and just relaxing with my friends.

I'm off to make lunch for myself (starving!!!) but here's the last two cards we're making tonight.

All of tonight's cards use the new In Colors as well as new designer paper and that yummy striped grosgrain ribbon. This beautiful stamp set is titled Beautiful Borders.  

Best of all, getting ready for this class was a BREEZE with Die Cut Stamps. Thank you Thank you Stampin Up!  I love that new feature!

Its very hard to see, but on this second card, the Baja Breeze ink is heat embossed and the detail really pops in real life.

Bella's Blossoms

I should go cook dinner, but thought I'd squeeze in one quick post! Giggle.

Today's Splitcoast Color challenge was just the inspiration I needed for my Bella Blossom's stamp from Stampin Up.  I've been trying to hold out till my top note die arrives, maybe tomorrow?  But.... the Emily's color challenge was just right for this card.

I think next month's Stampin Up workshop at my house is going to be an assortment of cards with Riding Hood Red, and just an assortment of colors that go with. Cause, I've got to say I'm really groovin' on this color.

The image was stamped one directly to the Very Vanilla cardstock, then I stamped just the bloom again, trimmed it out, popped it up and bent up all the petals so that they are facing up.  This is a 5 1/4 square card with Basic Grey for the matting and sentiment. Really should use that more often for my sentiments, it lends a nice subtle tone. 

Hope you'll forgive the brevity of this post, kids gotta eat!

I'm holding my September class next week and I'm really looking forward to the girls coming over to play!

You'll notice that I've kept them more straightforward than some of my usual posts around here, but when I'm making multiples of a card, I've got to streamline. 

And, while I do love having my girls over to stamp really we don't have ALLLLL night! Giggle. 

I'll be adding at least one Christmas card to each of my upcoming classes so that the girls will see different color combinations, and layout possibilities.  Or, simply have a few cards on hand in advance!  

This striped grosgrain is a must have for me.  I've been a big fan of the 5/8 width of grosgrain, but the stripes, man.  Yum! 

This sweet little set is called "A Flower for All Seasons."  We'll be making cards for two of the seasons, Fall and Winter!  Here's the fall version, same layout, same technique just a different color combination.

I'm determined to make these girls like Kiwi Kiss.  I think its such a fun color!  Just needs the right partner that's all!  Here I paired it with Close to Cocoa for my fall version of the card above.

Since I'm addicted to sketch challenges and all, I can't believe that I haven't yet had a chance to play along in Taylor's Weekly sketch challenge.  Looking back, Taylor's blog was the very first blog I'd ever read. I of course, found it through Splitcoast.

I was so very excited to hear that she's started her very own line of stamps "Stamp a Sweet Expression". Which by the way, are totally adorable and just perfectly suited for her pretty well known addiction to cupcakes.  wink.  

So, of course, I had to stay up a little late last Thursday night to be sure I scoffed up one set to have on hand.  I mean, a girl can never have enough cupcake stamps right?  

This card is for my aunt who graduated from college this past weekend.  She's been working full time, putting her children through college and attending classes herself.    Even more impressive, she was the graduation speaker at her ceremony with a 3.99 GPA!!  

So, this is a non typical graduation card, I just want her to enjoy every moment of life, and celebrate all that she has accomplished.  We're all SO very proud.

Playing Around

I'm still playing with that Eastern Blooms from Stampin Up that I borrowed from my friend Barbara. Its just so pretty! Versatile too!  Since its one of the 15% off specials from Stampin Up, I wanted to show my girls a few different ways to put it to use.

So, here are two very, very different cards using the set.  They're streamlined from my usual layered-ness because I wanted to keep them Quick and Simple!

The first, is a straight silhouette.  It was strange for me to not stamp on light colored cardstock for my focal point, but its good to step out of your regular pattern now and again, isn't it?  

This actually came about a funny way.  I was going to just make a 3x3 notecard, then realized that it would be fun to just use it as the main panel that size. 

To limit my use of Designer Paper, and to put the "other" stamps in the set to use, I stamped the flower outline on a piece of kiwi kiss cardstock.  The new delicious ribbon would have been the perfect companion here, but hey, I've got plenty of this Chocolate Chip grosgrain to go around still.  Despite the fact that this is so out of my general style, I sort of like it.  It has a nice quiet feel to it, and as much as I try to deny it, um, fall is right around the corner. 

This second is just so totally opposite, light and girly.  I wanted to also show that this is a great stamp to put those Stampin Up markers to use.  Lots of my girls have purchased the markers, so I always like to point out stamps that are great for markering.  

I colored the blooms in first with my Regal Rose marker, then went back and carefully inked the branches with Close to Cocoa, then huffed away to re-wet the ink.  

I also used the branch as a silhouette on this card, I overstamped the corners of the designer paper, its hard to see here, but in real life, it is quite pretty.  Mmm but wouldn't that new Pink Pirouette ribbon be so sweet on this card??

Left to my own devices, I would have added a Nestie border to that center panel, or reached for my Janome and sewed all the edges, but I was a good girl, and just left the card Stampin Up Only. 

Guess I should decide which one we'll be making tonight at stamp club and get that paper cut. Any votes?

Embracing Life

Thanks for all your support with yesterday's post.  I've got an appointment schedule at the allergist for the boys, and I'm busy going through the fridge and cabinets and household products removing "offending" products.  Phone calls placed to both schools and action plans in the works....will be spending some time on the FAAN (food allergy and anaphalaxis network) website later today to do more research.   

I was lucky enough to have a fellow Stampin Up demonstrator in town loan me one of her new stamp sets from convention! How FANTASTIC is that?  What a sweetheart. 

I wanted to add a card for my open house on Thursday with one of the new silhouette style stamps, and with the new in colors.  I've now made this too complex for an open house make and take, but thought I'd share it here and I'll have it on display Thursday night.  I'll go back and make a streamlined version for the make and take. 

The designer paper up top is the new Bella Rose designer paper, this is the Kiwi Kiss colored pattern.  The bottom cardstock is Pink Pirouette stamped with the branch also in the same color.

The popped up bloom was stamped in Pink Pirouette then clear embossed.  The sentiment "Embrace Life" is from the stamp set with that same name, stamped in Close to Cocoa.

Since I don't have any of that new delicious ribbon in yet, I covered the seam from the papers with some vanilla and kraft paper sewn together with my janome and then covered one side with a build a brad with the pink pirouette paper inside.

Now off to design a more group friendly card! Giggle.

Its time for the NEW!!

I've been waiting for that new Stampin Up catalogue and all the luscious new paper and ribbon. As much as I loved the old (and have a closet full of stamps to prove it!) I just needed a fix of something totally new.  

Here's a quick card that I made with the Pink Pirouette Cardstock (my new favorite!!) and the Sweet Bella designer paper for my brand new baby cousin! 

I also picked up the scalloped edge punch last week so that the girls could play with it Thursday at my Open House.  I'm a sucker for scallops and man oh man does this make the job ever so much easier!  In fact, it was SO easy that I scalloped both the front and the back of the card for a little scalloped note.  Several 1/2 strips of the Sweet Bella designer paper was stitched - reminds me of a little baby blanket and finished off with a bow of Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon.

Great Grads

A dear friend of the family, and loyal blog reader, asked if I had any graduation stamps in my collection. She's such a devoted teacher, she's going to make cards for her students.

I didn't yet own any, but knew exactly what stamp set would be perfect for the job.

I was really happy when I saw Great Grads in the Stampin Up catalogue. Last year I had a lot of requests for Grad cards and no appropriate stamps for the job. I just adore this set and was happy for an excuse to pick it up! Thanks Mary Jane!



The school's colors are red and white, which I think are just so classic paired with some black for that cap and gown. I wanted to keep the design fresh, but not too difficult to replicate, so I strayed from my usual dependence on punches and scalloping. A quick wheel with the So Swirly background wheel, a touch of striped grosgrain ribbon and two silver brads.



MJ I hope you like it. We'll have a mini stamp class tonight when you come pick up your supplies! Can't wait till you're out of school for the summer and we can get that girls stamping night planned!

Simple.

Don't get me wrong, I love the opportunity to make those "more is more" type cards for DT assignments, or sketch challenges, or just because. However, I just love it when a quick and cute card pops into my head.

I had to design one more card for a workshop Sunday night. This uses one of the Level 1 hostess sets and I wanted to show something really quick and easy. I don't know about you, but I always need thank you notes, and usually more than one at a time! This is a quick card to mass produce so that you can get them mailed, written out and most importantly into the mail!

I forgot!

A long weekend is a great chance to make a lot of progress with a little one's toilet training. And I'm happy to report that we're about 90% done. Still handling some accidents here and there (gross) but what a difference a few days makes!

Unfortunately, I think that I might have to make the difficult decision to pull the little guys nap. EEEKS. He does need some sort of break during the day, but I can't handle him coming out of his room till nearly nine pm to tell me that he has to pee again, that he thinks he heard a monster, that his nose needs to be blown, and that he has to pee AGAIN! Please just go to bed. I'm dreading the behavior that accompanies those first days, weeks and even months, that goes with the missing nap, but it would be nice for my day to end at 7:30 or 8 versus NINE!

Okay, now back to why you're probably here, not my whining!!

I've been working on some DT samples for an upcoming launch, but then remembered I'd never posted this little joy fold I'd made a few weeks ago. I wanted to try watercoloring with my SU makers, and it can in fact be done, I think I just need some practice, and also to give myself an image with a little more room to work with. These lines aren't so forgiving - they're pretty tight!

I'm going to try this one again with my copic markers instead!

I also remembered I hadn't shown you the fourth card in my "She's All That" card pack I'd made for a friend.

This uses my loved, but under used Baroque background. I think its just absolutely perfect for wedding or shower cards. The card base is mellow moss, with very vanilla and blush blossom for the cardstock mats. The image is stamped in river rock.

I think these siloutte girls are so sweet, but we agreed at stamp club last week that this girl really needs a hamburger or something, don't you think?
